Barely any settings, doesn’t seem like it’s even a complete program, auto installs itself and sus looking folders popped up in my drives that come back after being deleted and it automatically blocks every application on my computer forcing me to manually whitelist every damn program. Is this even a legitimate antivirus? A thousand curses on the US government.
I’m gonna be honest don’t know what the hell Kaspersky was thinking when replacing it with a different AV
I would’ve chosen Bitdefender over the lesser known antivirus
probably not. Sounds like a shady fly-by-night.
I essentially work in cybersecurity for the last decade and a half. I’ve never heard of this shit. Someone said its from India.Honestly I’d use WebRoot before this UltraAV crap. I’d use McAfee again. UltraAV has no history of being a good, effective, of well-known brand like KAV was. So id bail.
In case this comes as a surprise to anyone…
The Federal Government is moronic and incompetent. Why so many folks choose (or are okay with) the gov’t having more power over them… I’ll never understand it.
People are, indeed, pretty stupid.
Uninstalled the damn thing and noticed Kaspersky’s services were still working so staying with that as long as it works. Any suggestions for similar services with included VPN would be helpful.
Where are these folders? This is BS. I hope we see a class action suit over this garbage.
Placing myself in Kaspersky shoes, I’d do the same if I were targeted during an instance of political hysteria. When US companies pulled out of Russia due to sanctions, does anyone think US companies provided alternatives or compensation?
You get what you give.
My kaspersky is still working. I bought it through amazon as a prepaid code. Im anticipating my antivirus to be not working till the last day, but it hasnt been replaced at all. But all this news about the new av, I was wondering, did you guys buy a subscription or prepaid like me?
This thing is Garbage. It was automatically installed on my windows 11 PC as an update and now for some strange reason my USB ports dont want to work with anything now. Everything tells me file corrupted. Thanks Kaspersky.
The subscription email they send is a false link not to an official ultraAV site. Be aware!!
No it’s a virus and they will steal your information and hack your accounts. It will also auto install itself from uninstall. You will delete it and all files and restart your pc. It will reinstall. I had only Kaspersky password manager and it installs itself. So any Kaspersky data will keep installing ultraav. The next day it was auto installed on my pc. My discord, and Amazon was hacked. Kaspersky uninstalled itself automatically and ultraav installed itself and auto subscribed. $170 for 1 year. Lmao!! Always check your Amazon archive orders and emails if you had ultraav. They also signed my email up for spam bots. Had 400 emails within 5 minutes.
Autoruns can’t even disable a process. It will deny being disabled
I wouldnt trust any AV the EU didnt ban kaspersky and they arguably have a greater concern for russian hacking then we do.
If the usa didnt ban any other VA next question is why. To get that answer you all should look into the wannacry orgins. Once you get that answer you would realize given kernel access to any of the accepted AV in the USA is giving the USA entrance to your PC.
Bonus points if you look into snowdens files and see how the EU worked with the NSA.
Further more dig deeper and find out who owns pango group.
This whole thing is absolute garbage. Since when does a company have the right to install software on someone’s computer without their express consent?
It’s going to be weeks for me to just to get back to status quo for all the damage that this “install” caused. To say nothing of the fact that the company that took over from Kaspersky had absolutely no track record to speak of whatsoever (UltraAV). Their technical support is abysmal.
Show me how this is legal.
Bottom line is this: There is absolutely no way that this should’ve been done automatically. An email with the link to the needed files; perhaps with an authorization code, or some means of accessing the files, along with the necessary instructions to install them should’ve been provided. With the complexity of computers, there is absolutely no way anybody with a reasonable sense of the way things work in this field, could not have been aware of the risks involved. This is negligence pure and simple. To what extent the government has been involved in this remains to be seen, but it is a parent that they have played some role. It seems to me that the players involved, Kaspersky, and I would say more than anyone else, these UltraAV folks, bear the responsibility.
So I got my copy through Digital River, and when I look at my subscription it says canceled and payment set to manual renew. Do I have to worry about getting charged?
Keepsolid Unlimited VPN and
Bitdefender AV
I removed it on and my partner did on every computer we own. It would lag out computer games and I just read the company that owns Ultra just got made like a few weeks ago prior so they aren’t even that legit. Plus kasper shoved all our credit card info to them without warning which is a big red flag and why I personally changed my bank card cause ultraAV does not allow you to remove the card unless you contact support which is all india based where a lot of hackers are normally from as well. I went to bitdefender cause someone else on reddit said its like kasper but better and allows 10 devices at once. Personally if you are American do not use ultra or kasper use something else
The program is a complete garbage. It doesn’t work properly. It lets viruses through and constantly conflicts with programs. I definitely don’t recommend using it.
Ultra AV is NOT good, and a stupid indie N piece of $HIT! I can’t even use Notepad or MS edge, even on a different device, because while Ultra is running, everything I touch I don’t have permission to. It turns out with that no longer running I can. I mean even Kaspersky was better than this.
Kaspersky was great and then out of nowhere it all changed to UltraAv and they gave the new company all of my personal information without even a warning so I feel as If they should get sued at this point I feel as if I was scammed.
NOTE: You NEED to go on to UltraAV’s site, through your old MyKaspersky account, contact UltraAV Customer Support, and tell them that you do NOT want your subscription to renew! Otherwise, it will renew and hit your credit card at the anniversary date of your old Kaspersky. I just thought to take care of this today. You’ll likely have an exchange of 3 emails or so where they ask you “why do you want to leave, etc.” - but they DID send me an email (that claims, anyway) that my subscription is canceled.
