Given that the UK government is going all 1984 on our crypto and even our eBay accounts, I’m wondering how useful a VPN will be in avoiding all the stupid stuff they’ve got CB forcing us to do? I get that doing tests and whatnot is intended to “keep people safe” but it seems very heavy handed.
It may or may not impede your ability to be a Coinbase user.
Off topic but I just got an email fr CB saying I need to sign two new declarations or something like that before 8th.
Only they didn’t say where they were and I could find them for the life of me

Pointless since CB reports your information to HMRC and has been doing so for years.

If you pay your taxes in gains nothing to worry about really
You still have to provide kyc. And your fiat sends to coinbase will go in in your native currency unless you ping it thru other banks abroad at a cost. So my answer would be no a vpn probably won’t help you

Coinbase does not recommend using a VPN with your account. VPNs can sometimes trigger fraud alerts and cause issues with account verification.
VPN IP addresses appear anomalous and don’t match your regular login location
This could flag your account for security reviews which can lock you out temporarily
VPNs also hide your true online identity, which Coinbase prefers to have visibility into for regulatory reasons
For the best experience, I’d suggest logging into Coinbase directly without a VPN active. You want Coinbase to see your authentic IP address and online behavior without obfuscation.
Of course, basic online security like using HTTPS websites is still important. But for direct Coinbase access, a VPN isn’t necessary and could complicate things.

Of for sure but would surely be dependent on where I say I am? For example I can’t imagine it would give me issues if I said I was in the USA? And if I said I was in the USA would I still get quizzed?

I had the same email this morning. I assume it’ll prompt when opening app or signing in, but this didn’t happen today. I guess they’ll get around to it when they want
Had the same email, got a prompt to complete their questionnaire the next time I tried to make an order - took like 5mins and then could go back to making the order.

They may flag your acc, if your Kyc they know you don’t live in the US.
Either switch to p2p markets or find a new exchange for now

CGT in UK are one of the lowest in Europe, provided you annual income is below 50k.
If caught using a VPN your account could be suspended. It doesn’t matter which country you sign in from, if you’re a UK tax resident you’d still be paying UK tax even if you spend time abroad.
Just fill out the forms or take your custom elsewhere if you’re not happy.
