Which VPN Service is the Best?

I’ve been researching different VPN services and I’m struggling to figure out which one is truly the best. There are so many options out there, and I want something reliable for streaming, online privacy, and fast connections.

I’ve seen some top contenders like NordVPN, Surfshark, ProtonVPN, and PIA (Private Internet Access), but it’s hard to pick. If you’ve used any of these or have other recommendations, please let me know what you think.

Here are some things I’m considering:

  1. Speed & Performance: Which VPN provides the fastest and most reliable connections?
  2. Security Features: Are there any standout security features like strong encryption and no-log policies?3. Ease of Use: Which VPN has the most user-friendly interface, especially for beginners?
  3. Pricing: Are there VPNs that offer great value for money without sacrificing quality?
  4. Server Availability: Do any VPNs stand out with lots of servers in many countries for more flexibility?

I’d love to hear your experiences and recommendations on the best VPN service out there. Thanks in advance for your help!

I have tried almost all of them. I can say that they are almost the same in most of their features, however if we take a closer look, we will find small differences between each one. Depending on what you specifically need you can choose between one or the other.

Mullvad is the gold standard. It’s about $5 per month and they are truly committed to privacy and innovation. The app is easy to use and it’s available on every platform. You can also use their configuration files with something like OpenVPN (and not use the Mullvad app) if you prefer.

Many VPN providers claim to be “no log” providers, but it’s at least tested with Mullvad. The police tried to show up and get logs from them last year (it’s speculated that it was related to a big database leak.) They walked away empty handed. Mullvad also accepts crypto payments and even cash payments by mail, just in case you want maximum privacy.

Mullvad also introduced an optional feature that adds random data to your traffic to help thwart AI traffic analysis. I will note that this particular feature is amazing for privacy but will reduce your connection speed. I’m not sure if any other VPN provider offers that. Mullvad also has “multi hop” which bounces your connection among several servers, but of course, that results in a speed hit as well. No way around that, but if you really want privacy above all else, that’s the way to go.

I would say that it hits all your points, although I found that PIA had better speeds than Mullvad. Not to say that Mullvad’s speed is bad in any way, but it’s probably not the best in that category. I’d call Mullvad speeds “average” but of course that will depend on various factors.

The VPN business is shady as hell these days, but I think Mullvad is the only VPN company I’d really say that I trust.

Although I’ve never used ProtonVPN, I’m a huge fan of Proton in general and that would probably be my #2 pick if only because the company is so good.

I’m not sponsored by Mullvad. It’s just a great service run by people who really believe in it, and aren’t just in it to make a dime.

Mullvad and ivpn have limited servers and countries , if u want global all content try protonvpn

I think it really depends on your needs. I have tried a few and get on really well with surfshark because it blocks ads on the streaming platforms I watch, however not on youtube unless you do the usual trick of picking a specific country.

I liked the idea of Windscribe because you can have your own blocklist so therefore more customisable but I was concerned about connection quality/speed and others reviews. This is only my opinion anyway and as I said depends how much privacy you’re after and what you want to block out etc.

If VPN was all I needed, I would be going Mullvad. I like the ProtonMail service and features in the Proton Ecosystem as well as the very large and fast VPN service with great support for Torrenting or doing p2p over designated servers + support for streaming and hundreds of servers available across the world running fast. The bundle of Mail and VPN wrangled me toward them as well as their VPN service being no-logs strictly. The Mail service offers a good alias generator ability too which is great.

Mullvad I can attest to only by second hand testimonies, but they are highly praised and offer.a stable and affordable VPN that holds up to any other security standard you could pit it against. I use their free DNS in lieu of browser defaults usually and it is also great.

But in sum, if you don’t need or want anything extra and just want a flat rate, no-logs, secure and private VPN service you are probably going to be happy with Mullvad. If you want potentially more flexibility in server locales and potentially speed, the paid Proton VPN service has been stellar for me.

TLDR; Mullvad and Proton are the top notch companies here, read up on both and pick either. Other (mainstream} services are beneath them by a decent margin imo.

They kind of mislead you on this, they don’t have proper re-routing setup for a lot of countries. I connected to Albania on protonVPN to avoid youtube ads because thats a known thing.

Unfortunately VPN IP revealed I was located in France, this seemed to be the case for many of the countries. I think this is something that they’re working on. Additionally they have great speeds.

In protonvpn a lot of improvement is needed because it’s taking high ping always, and Asia Pacific countries like india and other countries OTT streaming do not support, speed also not stable in those countries,

Check and make sure you don’t have a DNS leak. Google DNS leak test.

Could be but I don’t live in France, can that still be an issue then?
