Which eSim: Airalo, Nomad, Holafly?

Which eSim is currently working well to access data, Gmail, WhatsApp etc in China? This is for a ten-day trip.

Thanks for all the recommendations. I did some comparing among Airalo, Holafly, Nomad, and 3HK. I have some more travel coming up, so a global plan with a longer term will be useful. As far as I can tell, Holafly doesn’t have a global plan. Nomad’s longest plan is 30 days. I wonder if 3HK’s great 30-day rates are only for people with a Hong Kong number, because I’m seeing higher prices. And Airalo is the only one that offers a SIM with calling/texting in addition to data. So if I’m understanding all of this correctly, I think Airalo is my best choice.
Here’s a summary of a few plans I considered:
-Airalo global, 30 days, 3gb, $24 data only or $36 data/call/text
-Airalo global, 365 days, 20gb, $69 data only or $89 data/call/text
-Holafly Asia or China, 10 days, unlimited data, $37
-Holafly Asia or China, 30 days, unlimited data, $79
-3HK global, 365 days, 8gb+5gb, $268
-3HK China, 365 days, 40gt+5gb, $268
-3HK China, 30 days, 15gb, $138
-Nomad global, 30 days, 3gb, $40
-Nomad China, 30 days, 3gb, $7
-Nomad China, 30 days, 10gb, $13

3hk 25 dollars 30 Gb

holafly has unlimited data option which is working fine

I’ve used Airalo a couple of times with no problems this year (saves having an extra vpn)

Airalo has been working well for me in both HKG and mainland

I love airalo no issues so far. My code for 3$ off GABRIE7189. Have a nice trip!

If you use Airalo here’s a referral code: KYLER7635

But I just spent 6 days in Shanghai and 2 in Hong Kong and my 3 eSIM has worked great. It’s certainly a much better deal than Airalo. Only issues were I had to manually select the correct network in China (I think it was China Unicom) and I had to do the identity verification before I was able to use it in Hong Kong.

Hi! For your trip to China, I’d totally recommend Holafly. We offer a 10-day unlimited plan for around $36.90 USD, and it includes VPN access, which is perfect since services like WhatsApp and Gmail are blocked in China without a VPN. The best part? You don’t have to set up a VPN yourself—it’s all ready to go! :raising_hands:

Plus, you can use it as a hotspot for 500mb per day to share your data with other devices—super handy if you need to connect more than one device while traveling! :globe_showing_europe_africa:

Just a quick note: It’s important to check if your phone is compatible with eSIM first. They support most iPhones, Samsung, Pixel, Xiaomi, Huawei, Motorola and others—just take a look at their compatibility guide to be sure! :mobile_phone::white_check_mark:

I am traveling China for 12 days, I purchased Holafly’s unlimited data plan for 15 days at $51USD. So Happy to report that its been working well from the start - I have access to all western apps - gmail, facebook and instagram only my TikTok does not work here. Other than that I have unlimited data!! Better than Airalo in my opinion.

Nomad $7 off for a purchase above $10 with following promo code: MANUYNYLSC

Airalo. Very reliable & cheapest. Here’s a $3 discount code KATRIN1299

Use my referral code HIVA36GS for Nomad for your first purchase during the checkout and we both get $3 off. It’s a win- win for both of us .The referral code is HIVA36GS

Second this. Best price to GB ratio.

Did the holafly VPN work in China?

Nomad is working for me in china now. Cheaper too. Also happy to give you a 7 day trial of Astrill VPN which works great for wifi and local sims. Just DM me your email.
