What antivirus software do you use? Why?

I am currently using totalAV, and it seems to be good enough, but ever since random windows have been opening and closing themselves, that is now in doubt.

ublock origin extension on all my browsers (not really an av but closes a lot of attack vectors). and all my networks on windows set to ‘public’ (closes some attack vectors).

as for av, its eset internet security.

why? its the lightest, fastest, has very good detection, and is the most customizable av i’ve found (trust me on that). its basically built for power users. its default settings are fairly good too, but its great that i can customize every single aspect of it.

i also like its firewall. not shitting on windows firewall or anything but eset is a lot less complex to use.

i also never run any pirated software (i don’t trust the ‘trusted’ ones).

if i have to run anything that i’m not 100% about, i run it on a sandboxie-plus sandbox, with no network or filesystem access. or entirely on a virtual machine.

and the best antivirus of them all, common sense.

Bitdefender. I really liked their vpn and decided to bundle it with the AV and it’s great. Hardly impacts my performance and only need it when I’m downloading stuff for odds n ends projects

A lot of people think TotalAV is a scam you’re probably better off switching to Bitdefender they have a free version

TotalAV is absolutely awful.

It’s literally detected as a PUP by malwarebytes

Uninstall it and stick with windows defender

TotalAV is not good, really shady company. Use one of these: Kaspersky, Bitdefender, ESET, F-Secure

TotalAV is bloatware and borderline a scam.

Have a look at Eset, Kaspersky or Bitdefender. I personally use Kaspersky on my main PC due to it having the highest levels of consumer grade protection you can have, I then run Eset on my 2 other machines due to how little system impact it has

Really tired of seeing this question

Avast and common sense, i know about bad reputation of avast but it saved my ass some times. And about all that adware scareware stuff, you can just go to the privacy settings, turn all that shit off and reboot your pc, ads should be gone. Have in mind that there’s a lot of better av choices like bitdefender or kaspersky

Bitdefender and Kaspersky both are really good antivirus. But I prefer Kaspersky as bitdefender is heavy and slows my system a little.
Kaspersky is light and has almost all features.

Windows Defender. My mistake buying my first laptop was having McAfee as part of a bundle and that was the last time I ever paid for an anti-virus.

It’s all just expensive bloatware, and rarely ever useful unless the computer you’re using is shared or part of a company.

On demand Malwarebytes plus Bitdefender, ESET, or Avast, personally. I know some people dislike the bloat included in Avast but it’s really easy to disable most of the ads and you can simply just not use the disk cleaner. That being said, if you can afford paid coverage, there’s no reason not to go for Bitdefender or ESET over Avast.

I use it, and I agree.

i accept. And maybe put malwarebytes there to. You have a free version of malwarebytes to. And also Avira Free

I use kapersky premium in my cellphone and my 2 computers. I recommend, because a lot of functions and it don’t have more false positive, however, for av mostly profissional in nowdays, i will choice the ESET.

Windows 11 defender?

why use avast when you literally admit there are better choices?

Free malwarebytes is only a scanner, it has no proactive detection.

Idk just got used to it, all i’m doing on my pc is playing games and stuff anyway so nothing to loose

It’s really not that bad antivirus, if you are a chill gamer like me, avast, windows defender, avg or something like that + common sense + virus total is just enough, if you want a little bit more protection, for example when you’re pirating games, you should consider installing something better.
