VPN support for Crostini?

My Chromebook updated to V75 on Stable channel last night. According to https://9to5google.com/2019/06/26/chrome-os-75-stable/ the Firefox browser in the Linux VM should be routing through the active VPN on Chrome. Whoer.net begs to differ. What am I missing here??

Thanks in advance.

I had to restart crostini after i enabled vpn on the chrome side to get crostini through the tunnel.

Awesome, this fixes so many things for me

Using the OpenVPN for Android VPN client, here is the sequence that works for me:

  • Pixelbook on 75.0.3770.102 stable
  • open crosh (Ctrl-Alt-T)
  • vmc stop termina
  • start the VPN
  • after the VPN is up, and the key symbol shows up in the notification area, start crostini again by starting a terminal or whatever app you want to use
  • crostini in the VPN, yay!

Do you have a split tunnel VPN? I definitely have stuff in Crostini going through a VPN because I’m accessing machines that are not visible on the open internet, but mm VPN is configured by default to only have those connections go through the VPN.

Thanks for responding. Could you please detail what you did to ‘restart crostini’.

Thanks

Right mouse on the terminal icon and shutdown Linux or vmc stop terminal
in crosh

I don’t know. I am using it with my own VPN server.

works for me with NordVPN Android
