Using a VPN-provided static ip to host from a DSlite connection

I have a Vodafone connection in Germany, which unfortunately means it is a DSlite connection, meaning I cannot host things like games from my local machine without a VLAN, because I do not have a unique ip address that people outside my home network can connect to.

Would a VPN service that provides a static ip address let me use that to bypass this DSlite mess? Instead of inviting people onto my VLAN (where both host and clients need to set things up), I hope to be able to just connect to my VPN and give out my static address to the clients.

My current VPN does not offer this option, but I don’t mind switching if it rids me of the occasional headache of setting up VLAN tunnels for non-tech-savvy friends.

tl;dr I need a static ipv4 address to host, and I don’t have that because I’m on a DSlite connection; can a VPN help fix this?

Just because the address is static doesnt neceesarily mean it is unique to you

Look at solutions like tailscale or zerotier.

I worded that badly, sorry, it would be a unique ip, at least going off the ads, e.g. NordVPN.

I am currently using zerotier to host though a VLAN, but it requires set up on the client side as well, which is what I’d like to eliminate.

Maybe something like Core Transit? https://www.coretransit.net

It’s a routing based tunnel service so you will need to terminate it to a supported router.
