There's an issue with your Account

I’ve been able to redeem my points, without any issues – but yesterday, I got this message when I tried to get an Amazon gift card (I also tried a Walmart GC and got the same response). I reached out to to customer support and they wanted screen shots of the message I was getting, so I sent it to them – I’m still waiting on their reply. My question is to anyone else who has gotten this – does this ever get fully cleared up and I’ll be able to redeem my point as usual or am I never going to be able to redeem my remaining points… Thanks

Yeah, I’ve gotten that a lot over the last few months. Sometimes I’ve been able to redeem using the phone app, or the web app in a different browser. Sometimes I’ve been able to redeem for a gift card after buying a sweepstakes entry. Sometimes none of that works and I’ve had to resort to getting a Macy’s or Kroger gift card. Anecdotally it seems like Amazon cards are the toughest to get, followed by Target or Walmart, followed by those other less desirable cards. It’s inconsistent and maddening.

It used to mean you’re about to get banned from MS Rewards for being naughty.

I’ve had it happen a few times trying to redeem Xbox gift cards. It eventually worked later in the day after using a different device to redeem it.

Got that two times in the last 2 months.
Over 450k points on account.

At first I could not redeem gift cards at all, I could donate points or use them for sweeptakers. I’ve been abroad a month earlier (did not use Rewards, so I’ve lost some nice streak).

They replied that I need to make sure that I am using the local website (I did). Nothing changed so I continue collecting points. After a week or two, I tried again and I was successful with one gift card and month of Xbox Game Pass Core.

I have tried another gift card but I got an error telling me to contact support. Thought that I reached the limit of redemption but no.

Contacted with support, they gave me a generic answer that they don’t see any issue with my account. So after a week I’ve tried again after a week and I was able to redeem gift cards again - so just in case I’ve redeemed everything I could and almost zeroed my points.

I’m going through the same thing. At first it was Amazon gift card- name your amount. That gave me a problem but redeeming $10 cards was ok until I got to the fourth one. Then, I got that same message about a problem. So I opened a ticket. They said it was because I was using a phone that wasn’t tied to a SIM card- like non VOI or something. I opened another ticket (because now they’re doing a bot reply and then a second email saying they’ve closed the case.) to say my phone is valid- with a SIM card, and it’s a recent issue, never had this problem until now. Then my new bot response was that I violated their terms by being in two or more markets or something like that? I asked them to explain what that means, haven’t heard back. I’ll open another ticket, I suppose. I travel frequently but that wasn’t an issue before. So, seems like a glitch or idk. Good luck to you OP.

This is my worry…I got 521k points saved…mainly saving up for a good Black Friday week deal or an actual console like the 2TB that is supposed to come in a year or 2…I just don’t want to have spent all this time building up all these points to find I can’t spend them esp when I don’t have an income

I got a notification saying I was in a different country which I wasn’t. I didn’t even have a VPN on… corrected itself after a few minutes though

The problem with saving points for the console is that you can end up with an expiring gift card balance.

You would need to redeem points (for example) a month before pre orders will start. Then you would need to be super lucky to actually buy it when hundreds of thousands will also try to secure their own console.

If you will be unlucky you won’t be able to pre-order it and the gift card balance redeemed from points expires in 90 days. So I would not count on it.

This is why I was just use it on an Amazon gift card or something … and then use that to buy a console or I would hate to save up a million points and have it be wasted because of some arbitrary change of policy

yeah I think if I don’t spend much this Black Friday sale…I’ll max out my Gamepass ultimate sub hopefully before the price increase and then every 2 months just do 25 Amazon…then I’ve always got some for any good deals or DLC for a game I’m playing or any big release like GTA6
