Split Tunnel - Chrome Profiles

Because of the consistent chrome extension problems, I can no longer have simultaneously:

  • a VPN running on my Personal Chrome Profile
  • no VPN running on my Work Chrome Profile

This would allow me to browse ‘blocked’ websites on one window and then stay within the boundaries on another.

My question is:

Is it possible to split tunnel chrome profiles? Or what other options do I have?

I know I can split tunnel Mozilla Firefox, browse web with a VPN there, and then use Chrome with no VPN… but I use Chrome religiously as it just works for my usage better.

You cannot split profiles as they use the same executable. You could use Chromium for one of the profiles, OR you can run Chrome Beta or Chrome Dev on the same machine and put one of the profiles in it.

Download Brave, Edge, or base Chromium and run that without the VPN, then run Chrome with the VPN. They’re all based on Chromium at least.

i had this problem too and i fixed it accidently
you can use SwitchyOmega extention
then turn your vpn on, put the extention on “Direct” in one of your accounts that you dont want vpn on it and put the extention on “System Proxy” in another account
and enjoy
