RV345 Client VPN with Windows 10

So I am trying to get Windows Clients connect to the network behind the gateway. I configured Client VPN per Cisco instructions from Client-to-site VPN - tried both Cisco and Third Party client option - but in either case Windows 10 takes a long time to error out with “The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during initial negotiations with the remote computer”.

I did some searching online, and some results point to disabling MS CHAP which the gateway doesn’t seem to implement. I did it on Windows side, and it resulted in no improvement.

Is this really supposed to be this difficult, making a VPN gateway from a major networking gear provider to work out of the box with the OS from the biggest software vendor? It is just… weird. Did anyone get this to work, and what is the minimum number of steps. Alternatively, can I buy a different piece of hardware that would be reasonably easy to use?

I have ZWall appliance right now, it is kinda slow for the modern gigabit fiber, but I had no problem configuring it, compared to this Cisco thing… Any advice on hardware that would actually work out of the box is greatly appreciated - site-to-site and client-to-site is what I need.

L2TP Didn’t works well with Windows 10. Rasphone is a alternate that can make your life easier. GitHub - gammacapricorni/happy-meraki-client-vpn: PowerShell scripts for Windows 10, to create saved VPN connections for Meraki Client VPN.
