I recently installed stopAD on my phone after doing some research on the internet. The app is pretty lightweight and works well, but it pops up the key symbol in the right of my status bar showing that my phone is connected to a VPN. Is there a way to remove this notification from the status bar? Or are there similar apps which have the same functionality without the notification?
It is security feature to let you know, data is routed through VPN. You will likely need root to remove it.
It sucks that system UI tuner has option to disable almost everything but this.
You can do this using the Auto Notification app. You can disable pretty much any notification using keyword based filtering. Using it right now for the same purpose.
Hi! I am from StopAd team. That’s the standard thing for Android. That notification informs you that your data is routed through VPN. It’s actually good thing for your security) You’re always aware of data usage on your smartphone.
Not that I’m aware of. It’s an Android system thing so I’m almost 100% positive you’d need root to remove it
Why would you do that? It’s useful to know if your vpn is down.
I use this as well, for the exact same purpose. Works well, and standalone from Tasker.
I believe this works only for Android 8.0 and higher
