Question/trouble getting vpn nord or surf shark on my MacBook Pro (OS X Yosemite, version 10.10.5, mid 2012)

Hey so apparently it seems that my current MacBook is too out dated to get these VPN applications. I can’t even legitimately download DuckDuckGo as an app. It says my Mac requires MacOS 10.15 Catalina or later. I think that is the next update which my Mac caps out at, before having to buy the next generation. Which seems stupid as hell if you ask me. I bought the laptop a while ago but it was good for its time and is still a super slick, good looking laptop.

Is there something that i am missing or is my Mac from 2012 literally not able to download/ VPN nord/shark. Lol let alone DuckDuckGo :man_facepalming:t2:.

If so, or if it is super involved in order to trick an outdated laptop to use it. Does anyone have any good recommendations on another good VPN that I can also hopefully pair the account with my phone/Wi-Fi? A VPN network that can work on my ancient artifact of a 2012 MacBook Pro?

Thanks guys :folded_hands:t2:

macOS Yosemite is verrrrry old. If you want any kind of app support you’re gonna have to update. The newer frameworks and APIs that new/updated apps use just aren’t compatible, especially on an OS from 2014. Also, from a security standpoint that OS pretty outdated security wise.

By update do you mean buy a new laptop? Or is there something I can do or buy and still keep the laptop?

Thank you

You should update the OS to macOS Catalina it should be supported by your MacBook. But realistically you should look into replacing the computer if you want to keep getting the latest app updates and security patches.
