Hello,
Is PIA good for gaming? I currently use HMA for gaming, but I don’t like how they keep logs. Does anyone have any experience gaming with PIA?
Thank you.

I have been connecting to the PIA Sweden gateway and my speed actually improved. went from 20mb/s down and 5 up to 80mb/s down and 15 up. my ping stays at around 20ms. Games run a lot better for me than before.
Possibly depends on your ISP. I am usually connecting from either Virgin Media (not great) or TalkTalk (worse), and to get decent speeds on VM I have to use TCP. And that fucks over my Mumble voice comms something chronic. My suggestion would be to grab a month and try it with the games and services you use. By all means, do some testing and post the results in this subreddit?
Works very well for me. I connect to the VPN using my pfsense router, so all the computers in my network (apart from my server) are tunneled through it. I haven’t heard any complaints from my brother, and I haven’t experienced any issues myself either. The ping is increased by a few milliseconds, but that’s about it.
Thank you for all of your comments. I will buy a month now and I will see how this goes.
Just got PIA. I get faster internet on it then off of it. It looks like I was getting throttled. Thank you guys!
I just signed up the other day - ISP is FIOS.
Like it so far except I’m having issues with BF3. I keep getting kicked by punkbuster for zero packet flow. If I disconnect I’m fine. With bfbc2 it works fine connected to VPN.
Haven’t been able to find an actual solution yet, though port forwarding is one suggestion. However port forwarding is only available on some servers, all in EU, and only for one port so I don’t see how that would help. The issue appears to be punkbuster not BF3.
So while I like the features, and network speed is excellent, I’ll have to decide if I want to work with shutting down the connection while playing BF3, also shutting down\pausing other, um, miscellaneous apps. With only seven days to cancel, I’ll have to evaluate quickly.
One reason I wanted to use PIA is for the 5 allowed connections. I have a windows machine with two VM’s so that is a nice feature. I haven’t seen any other VPN allow more than two simultaneous connections.
Depends on location and game I guess. I can’t get under 170 ping with League of Legends, even connected to the Cali servers and living in the bay area myself. My ping goes from 35 → 170. :[ I’m sure other games will work though. PIA has a refund policy though.
I have a rock solid 42-44ms ping on World of Warcraft. I connect to the San Jose servers. It’s never been an issue.
That doesn’t make sense. How can this be possible? 0_o
For BF3, I get that error too using the PIA vpn in the US but if I switch to Canada or really any international one then I can play fine with BF3 without having to change any settings.
I think my ISP (Virgin Media) were throttling my connection as I do pay for 100mb/s down and 20 up or so. I tested it on multiple computers and got the same results. Same with the Germany gateway.
I could try that. Network speed is excellent connecting US East Coast. I’d have to see if it was worth it to connect to a different server, or if I should just play disconnected.
