OpenVPN client for Windows

Can anyone recommend a good third party OpenVPN client for Windows? This is what I have tried so far.

Openconnect - Don’t like it because I can’t save the VPN passwords.

Viscosity - Don’t like it because it creates a network adaptor for each server that stays in Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections permanently. I have about 30 networks adaptors there now.

Any suggestions for free or paid OpenVPN clients for Windows?

What’s wrong with OpenVPN GUI that comes with OpenVPN community installer?

Why are you looking for a third party client? What are your issues with the main client?

Update - Someone sent me a private message and told me about an option in Viscosity to only use a single network adapter for all connections which is exactly what I was looking for.

Advanced–>Network Settings–>Enable “Use single network adapter for all connections.” Then I just had to delete all those original network adapters created for each connection which was a little tricky. The delete option was greyed out. You need to right click, choose properties, click the configure button, choose driver tab, then click uninstall button. Hope this information can help someone with the same problem.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

hi! List of current alternative openvpn clients gathered on openvpn official website: https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/wiki/RelatedProjects#WindowsclientGUI

I’m testing many different VPN services and sometimes the softwares conflict with each other and sometimes I don’t trust the software from certain providers. I’m also testing some VPNs such as Ironsocket and 12VPN which don’t have a dedicated app for Windows.

Thanks, I’m going to try this one next. Looks like a nice GUI from what I can see.

For testing, I recommend using VMs. You can save a snapshot, and then revert after each test.

Security software is built on trust, why would you trust this? If you want privacy, you best stick with something that has built trust.

Which one do you think is most trustworthy?
