Hey there, sorry if this violates the rule of this sub. I’m just looking for discussion of a mature topic and how it relates to Malwarebytes. If this violates rules, please let me know where a better place to post might be.
I recommend Malwarebytes to everyone I know, and I’m friends with many kink-friendly sex-positive porn-users, in addition to being one myself.
I’ve been asked multiple times about a certain topic when it comes to pornography. Malwarebytes seems to block a ton of adult sites under the ‘riskware’ umbrella, even sites that offer no malware and have good reputations. Reading up on the question, I see riskware is defined also as things that may be illegal in a user’s country - so I’m thinking a lot of this may be copyright related?
People tell me they stopped using the protection because adding exclusions all the time, and the fact that they need to add them individually when there are subdomains, is too tiresome. I browsed some of the sites they said were blocked, and found no malware, PUPs, or things that I would find suspicious. However the one thing they all seemed to have in common was copyrighted content.
My question is - have others noticed this? Is this how riskware blocking works? Or am I seeing a pattern that isn’t there? Thanks for your insights!
