Losing internet connection when Tailscale and AWS VPN are active at the same time

When I have both my AWS VPN client running (and connected), and my Tailscale connected, my internet completely drops out. I’ve tried different networks with no luck. It’s a Windows 11 machine that I recently reinstalled Windows on and it was previously working before the reinstall without issue. When either VPNs are active by themselves, I have no issues.

Both the current config of Tailscale and AWS and the previous config are the same and I haven’t changed anything (just reinstalled Windows). In Windows, I have the network properties setup to obtain IP address and DNS server automatically.

Using multiple VPN products at once rarely works, as they fight over control of routing tables, firewall rules, etc… If you managed to find a stable configuration for the two to coexist before the reinstall of Windows, it’s possible that an update to either Tailscale or AWS’s VPN, or to Windows itself, has eliminated that stability.

There are two known workarounds that may be possible, depending on the features of AWS’s VPN: https://tailscale.com/kb/1105/other-vpns Barring these options, you’ll need to only use one VPN at a time.

Dang, that’s a bummer. I don’t think I have access to change my AWS config, b/c it’s given to me by my employer, so using them individually is pretty much my only workaround. Thanks for the info!
