Leaving NordVPN

This is just for information only, and maybe others can pitch in if they’ve had similar observations.

I have been using NordVPN for the past 3-4 weeks coming from another VPN provider, here’s a few reasons why this is not working out.

  1. Threat Protection (TP), (specifically Web Protection) does not work. Every website I visit takes around 30s to load, only to be hit with “Your connection is not private”. I have contacted the support both on live chat and through email. Their support is bad, so bad, there is a clear disconnect between ticket creation and what has been done to debug so you will go through the entire debug process all over again, only this time through email and much slower. They couldn’t fix it btw, they couldn’t figure it out. Their entire solution is based on uninstall and reinstall NordVPN.
  2. Dirty IPs…oh boy … even disregarding TP this is probably the main reason for me. Most websites have blocked NordVPN’s IPs it seems. All the websites I’ve visited seemed to have blocked me one way or another. Whether this is streaming or reading, which defeats the entire purpose of having a VPN for me personally. The trade-off between me having to mess with the website’s setting and getting access to it is simply north worth my time. Even Reddit is blocked when using NordVPN. You either need to login or turn off VPN.
  3. Slow (not connection! connections are super fast as expected). Maybe this is me, but the actual application is super slow and sluggish, to turn on TP takes minutes, and even then it fails to turn on some of the features.
  4. Multi device login in just terrible. Want to login on iOS? well it will use the web-browser to log you in. Why? why have an app if you will make it difficult to login (the website didn’t even load several times, this was done on multiple different networks). This should be seamless, it should be done within the app.
  5. The cost is not worth it. Paying premium for the faster connection time does not outweigh the rest of what I have experienced.

My experience regarding your points:

  1. Perfect on my end. No slow/sluggish loading times like you.

  2. This is something all VPNs deal with. IPs sometimes get blocked. It happens. Although I have yet to see this happen on my end.

  3. I have no problems with the app. Turns on extremely quick for me.

  4. I do think logging in via the app should the process instead of directing to the browser, but I only did this once and that was it. If you’re getting constantly logged out, that’s something on your end.

  5. I guess this is subjective because of your experience.

Been using NordVPN since 2017, never had any of the issues the OP listed. I use it on my LMDE6 Linux Desktop, my ipad, and my iphone. If you have an ip that is blocked for some reason, switch to a different server, they have servers all over the USA, heck all over the world. As an example, I tried to download a Win11 iso using a USA server, Microsoft wouldn’t start the download, I switched to a Canadian server and it download with out issue. Then switch back to a USA server and kept on trucking.

You just have bad luck i guess… mine is super fast don’teven notice it

I’ve been using Nord for many years and never had any of these problems. Sounds to me like technical issues that can be resolved.

I’m not sure what country you’re in but I haven’t had any of the issues you’ve described. I’ve had nord for about 9 months and haven’t had issues on any of my devices (windows, multiple Android devices). I can’t speak to iOS. There were a few sites it had blocked but I just temporarily disabled the web filter to access the sites but it was super easy with the button to do that. Hope your situation improves.

I’ve had nord for 4 years now - only vpn ive ever used.

I have never had any of the issues you’re describing.

Interesting, I’ve been using Nord for like 6 months and it works flawlessly on everything including Netflix and prime video. Although I will say the IOS app is absolutely shit and doesn’t keep a connection to save its life and drops unexpectedly so I use express for my phone

Using Nordvpn for years. No problems at all. Sometimes the US streaming services block the server so I have to use another one (but that happens in all VPNs).

Sounds like a lot of personal issues you have had with Nord. Been a user for many years & never faced any of these issues…

Hmm. Long time NordVPN user out here. Can not relate with neither of the points you’ve mentioned, seems that you might have been too lazy to simply get help from their support. I’m sure they would have solved it all out, where possible.

Wow. I have a galaxy note 20, windows 10 cpu and linux cpu but I don’t have any of the problems you’re having

I’ve never had any of these issues with NordVPN; not a single one. I love it!

I have stopped using this VPN about a year or two ago. Not for any of the reasons listed…

They actually seemed to have banned me from using their VPN no matter what.

Whenever I try and use the VPN after downloading it, it will not connect to anywhere. I cannot remember the message that always came up to me since it’s been a year or two when I stopped using it at this point.

I tried suing a friends account, I tried using the addon/extension on Browsers, I have literally tried everything, and it’s just the same exact message every time, preventing me from connecting to anywhere.

Also it doesn’t work in China!!

It’s so cute that you think Nord will just let you cancel like that

Should try getting this to connect on TV boxes like Chromecast or fire tv, that’s a struggle, just gave up and moved on to another vpn

Been using Nordvpn for years, I’ve had zero issues

If I got a dime everytime someone says I’m leaving said subject I be rich.

Am I the only one who can’t access Reddit on mobile when threat protection is on?
