Just got the Pro II Lifetime plan, but the download speeds are painfully slow—same issue for my brother in Germany. Is this normal, or should I start considering a refund?

I recently purchased the Pro II Lifetime plan, but during testing, I noticed that the download speed is extremely slow. To confirm, I asked my brother in Germany to download a file I shared publicly, and he experienced the same slow speed. Is this normal? If so, I may need to consider requesting a refund, as the service is currently unusable.

Don’t know why it says 1s remaining :joy: It took almost 10-15 minutes to download this file.

Feels like a Telekom peering issue

Get to stress out my full 400 Mbit/s connection, no issues for me. But i know there are currently people that are uploading multiple Terrabytes to Filen. Surely the servers are a bit stressed out right now. Will get better over time, as filen will continue to upgrade its servers

Is this on mobile? Have you tried it after connecting to a VPN to see if you’re being throttled by your carrier/ISP?

For reference, I just formatted and reset up my laptop a couple days ago and after setting up my sync again on Filen I was seeing 40-50MB/s.

It shouldn’t be that slow. But you have up to 14 days to get a refund.

Have you tried reinstalling the app with the latest version? I personally haven’t yet, but I literally just realized it.

I would consider a refund.
Have the same issue and opened a support case 4 days ago. They said it wouls be fixed during the same day… fast forward 4 days and it’s still slow…

I uploaded 1000s of pictures, 12 gb or so, as well as downloaded 1000s of pictures, and it honestly didn’t take that long at all. This is using the sync feature with the app image on Linux.


I am based in Switzerland, testing a download of a file of 2 GB from my Filen account, this is the speed I get.

I’m getting 400-500mbit from DTAG network. So while i agree that the peering is horrendous, filen works well from it, at the moment.

Filen is currently in its biggest boom yet because of BF and the recent big update. There are 100% slow downs due to how many people are currently uploading/using their services.

It’s on PC.

I just turned on VPN (Cloud Warp) and tried downloading again, and now the speed is good! Sad that I need to connect to a VPN for downloading :pensive_face:

I tried using a VPN and got good speed. Then again right now, I’m getting good speed without VPN.

Issue got fixed somehow. Getting good download speed now. Upload speed was good from the beginning.
I tried VPN first, it gave me good speed, then after a while I tried without VPN and got similar good speed.

I`ve been using their service for several years now and they have been quite reliable so far.

VPN gave me issues on iOS where I couldn’t transfer with the wifi only option, so keep that in mind as well. It seems it detects VPN as not wifi on phone or something.
