Is there a program that can bypass the school computer (HP) firewall restrictions while remaining undetected by the admins?

I have… a mission. ‘Nuf said.

This is FAR from a trivial thing, my friend.

  • You probably had to sign a policy agreeing that you wouldn’t try to tamper with or bypass your school’s information security policies, right?. Consider the ramifications of violating that.
  • If the computer is school property, you should assume it has monitoring or device-management software on it. Any changes you make to the system might be logged.
  • Assuming you’re talking about the local firewall on the computer itself, unless you already have admin rights to the machine, firewall settings cannot be changed without using some sort of exploit (i.e. actual malware).

If what you’re trying to do is something legit, there might be a way to do it that’s above board. What’s your goal here?

Rule 1.

Not that you can do it anyways without formatting or the password.

If you can install software you might be able to use a browser with a built-in VPN client. Or you can install a VPN server on a publicly hosted VPS and setup a tunnel over port 443 that looks like HTTPS traffic.

Without being able to install software you really have no options.

very much not the point, but are those legally enforceable since it’s the signature of a minor?

You can boot off of a Linux USB thumb drive and use that operating system instead with a VPN client PIA or private internet access might work, basically something you can set up and test at your computer at home and just bring in to school put in a thumb drive and hope they don’t have the thumb drives locked down

but are those legally enforceable since it’s the signature of a minor

It really depends on country but Reddit isn’t the police of the world imo. This question has been asked thousands of times and I think they all fall under Rule 1.

Is there anything expanding on that or clear explanation? Breach of school or even company policy is not illegal, it’s just breach of an agreement. Not saying people should do that, but it’s not exactly against the law, contract law simply governs what’s supposed to happen once that happens.

So what are you guys trying to say. Is it legal or illegal

I guess it does look like the scene from Shrek 3 where Pinocchio answers Prince Charming, but that’s because it’s the only way to answer. Is it illegal? Maybe, maybe not.

Strictly speaking, there is likely no law (not a lawyer and greatly depends on the country so can’t say definitively) saying you can’t bypass a school firewall, but often you would be violating a code of conduct, contract or some other form of agreement between the user and the organization in charge of the firewall. That itself does not mean it’s illegal, just a breach of contract, and the organization can enforce penalties on the user.

On the other hand, it may be possible to try and stretch it to some form of law against hacking, but a simple bypass to access content likely would not fit such criteria.

Tl;Dr - if you are unsure, assume that it is, until you know it isn’t.
