Is NordVPN often this unreliable?

Hi,

I started using NordVPN about a week ago. Before that I had been using Surfshark for about 5 years. Never really had any problems with Surfshark, I simply wanted to try out NordVPN since my plan ran out with Surfshark.

I just booted up my PC and realized that I am logged out of the NordVPN app and login fails. I google the issue, find an old thread saying reinstalling the app sometimes works, I try, it doesn’t.

I check if it’s down and sure enough, there are outage reports and threads on this subreddit about the outage.

Since I can still tehnically cancel my plan with the 30-day money back guarantee, I am curious about the reliability of this VPN service. Are these downtimes common? Should I just go back to Surfshark?

No, this login problem is pretty exceptional. In general NordVPN work perfectly without interruptions on large period, weeks or even months.

Been a member since 2017, issues this big are pretty very rare.

Been using Nord for years and never had this issue before. You got hit with the bad luck stick it looks like :grimacing:

Their website has a banner stating they are experiencing issues with logging in and that they’re working on it.

It’s true that downtimes are relatively uncommon, but they have absolutely zero support (which really is really annoying me right now since their error message so kindly states “if the issue persists, contact our customer support)” so honestly I’d suggest switching to another provider.

Yea just happend to me too…
Connected all the time and suddenly it logs itself out and now I can’t log back in…
Changed password ,reinstalled but nothing seems to work

Nord is a great VPN, but sadly it falls short on Windows PC. I had the same issue. It seems a very aggressive VPN on Windows and often blocked the Internet completely and played havoc with my network adaptor, so I uninstalled it and went back to Adguard which works prefect. Nord does work brilliantly on my Firestick though, and beats Surfshark by a mile.

Haven’t experienced such an issue myself with Nord ever. Have you contacted their support? This could be a personal case.

It may be exceptional yet happening to me this morning. Website login works fine, can’t make the Windows app work today to save my life. It spins the icon for minutes then gives an error and tells me to try again later. Again, Proton backup comes to the rescue.

This is exactly what’s happening to me.

More infuriating is the fact that the error states “if this issue persists, contact our customer support” but they have zero contact phone numbers available & I can’t find a live chat option.

This is the kind of service I expect from a free VPN, not one that requires payment.

Same here. Long time Nord user. I’ve reinstalled twice. Keep getting “Login failed. We hit an authentication error.” Had a chat with Nord CS and they said it’s a known issue and they’re working on a fix. But no time frame for the fix. I was told to try logging in later.
