I attend UCLA and use the wifi provided. However. My Sonos refuses to connect to any wifi networks. Does anyone know what I could do? Iv’e tried VPN, and other wifi networks related to UCLA, and within my disposal, but none of them work. I just want to be able to play music. Each time, I get an error after inputting my password, with each network my phone is connected to. Thanks!
You may need a travel router, shared wifi typically do not work well with Sonos due to client isolation protocols.
There’s no way to connect a Sonos or other device like an Alexa to a university wifi network. They are not segmented like a network would be at your house.
Mobile hotspot and Sonos app on MacBook?
Last year at the University of Maryland I bought a cheap tplink router and plugged it into the wall to create my own network. The wall was essentially the modem. Worked perfectly.
Just make sure you have sufficient security and hide your SSID because it went against my lease and school code of conduct.
Name it something school or hvac related. Some kind of engineering wifi. Scan around other places and see what official sounding wifi SSIDs you pick up and name it similar.
That is an overstatement; like many universities, UCLA housing has a special system just for devices like these:
