RUNUNK13 has existed for years, so many people complain about it and the problem still persists. How does this problem still persist, its embarrassing.
The only things I’ve done that work sometimes is making sure the window is minimized when rununk would normally appear, and toggling hardware acceleration on the browser. Really though hulu needs to fix this, its been long enough…
I know digging up old threads but Im having issues atm and this one caught my eye
Theres no need for them to actually fix anything - most people know workarounds and continue giving Hulu money. As long as the money rolls in theres no reason to actually fix things until outcry over an issue reaches critical mass
I watch Hulu on my desktop computer. Recently, I can’t watch any videos on Hulu because I get the playback error “RUNUNK13”. When I search Reddit and the internet about the playback error “RUNUNK13” on Hulu there are so. many. results. It seems that 100’s of people have been getting this playback error for years.
There are a few fixes. I’ve tried them all: Restart the computer. Watch it in “watch party”. Start the video in a minimized window. Use Incognito Mode. Clear the Cache. Nothing works.
I called support and they had me restart the computer, watch it in “watch party”, start the video in a minimized window, use Incognito Mode, and Clear the Cache. Didn’t work for them either. I was about to upgrade to live tv too. So now I’m canceling. Obviously.
setting the quality to DATA SAVER instead of BEST POSSIBLE has consistently fixed this issue for me on the hulu website, tested it on multiple computers and it has worked on all, hope it works for you all too!
I called Hulu about this and of course they said no one else is experiencing this issue . They had me go through all the troubleshooting to see if it was something on my end. I was watching through chrome so I downloaded Firefox and didn’t have the issue for a few weeks, now it’s popping up. So annoying! If I wasn’t paying $12/month for Hulu I’d cancel my subscription. No way this level of service is worth more than $12. My suggestion is for more people to call in and report the issue. Ask to speak to a manager after you get a rep on the phone. The initial reps don’t know anything, but the person they escalated it to seemed to take it more seriously and genuinely wanted to help. He said it could take over a week to fix and that’s when I downloaded Firefox. I bet if people start canceling their subscriptions they’d fix the issue.
Finally, here’s what fixed hulu’s rununk13. At least for me. On the same chromebook at the same house on the same network at the same hour on the same day. I am finally on “A murder at the end of the world.” Only difference using my sons hulu through Paramount he has the higher price accnt with no commercials. There you have it .It’s about money. duh!
I’ve been having this issue for years on and off but it’s getting to the point that all the shows I watch are getting this error… I can’t watch: Bobs Burgers, Rick and Morty, 911, 911 Lone Star, American Horror Story, and a few others
I contacted Hulu once before because they saw my social media post on Twitter about my issue, and their suggestion was just to watch it on a different device… THAT DOESN’T FIX MY PROBLEM. I pay over $25 a month for this service (disney and espn too) and they expect me to accommodate b/c of their incompetent IT tech team? Nuh. If i don’t see any improvement by my next renewal I’m just canceling. Having this service was more of a convenience for me than trying to find all my shows for free on my PC…
It’s a bug that has been ongoing on Hulu for some time, essentially once the Hulu splash screen plays before an episode the show fails to load afterwards. You have to keep reloading the episode, restarting the browser, messing with minimizing the screen and hardware acceleration to get the episode to load.
This is the only thing that worked for me - set the quality to “data saver” for the initial 10 seconds, then after the real video loads, you can set it back to “best possible.” It’s a shame this workaround is needed when the problem has been reported for years in dozens of Reddit posts.
