How to set up NordVPN on Router? I live in the Philippines

hello! please bear with me, i don’t really have a clue about this.

i’m from the ph and i recently bought nordvpn, now i want to set it up on our wifi. we use PLDT DSL btw, and i have no clue whatsoever how. can anybody here guide me perhaps? or does nordvpn not work on ISP routers?

Thanks in advance for those who will answer!

The ISP provided routers simply do not support OpenVPN Client that is required to set up a VPN on them.

I would personally always recommend using the VPN on your devices directly regardless as it will provide with much faster speeds, the switching between servers is convenient and most importantly for most people using the VPN - streaming access is way better as router VPN connections are often restricted.

For the devices that do not support VPN such as a Smart TV - my tip is using a desktop or mobile device with a VPN and then HDMI to the TV.

If you still decide to use a VPN on a router instead due to security reasons and network wide VPN I recommend checking this article which will contain pretty much all information you’d need such as which router is recommended to use and how to set it up:

As what was mentioned, you need to buy a router that can run OpenVPN, which is what NordVPN needs. That router needs to connect to your PLDT router/modem. All devices in your network will then be behind the VPN.

Is this to bypass geo-blocks in Netflix/Hulu/Prime? Take note that these streaming services have been aggressive in blocking VPN IP address ranges and you may end up with more frustration.

With my router you have to go into the routers settings and under “security” there you can easily ad a vpn
