Obviously you leave your work laptop on at home. Then you set up a webcam aimed at the screen. Then you use a remote controlled robot to type on the keyboard.
Get a VPS based in UK and you can have complete control over it. Or you could even setup the server at your house in the UK and connect remotely to it.
You can setup the GL.iNet device to connect to the VPN. There’s a kill switch mode where if the VPN disconnects, it won’t send traffic. So your real IP won’t be leaked.
Delete it and get ExpressVPN. I lived in China for a few years, Nord didn’t work there China fully blocked them like many other VPNs. ExpressVPN makes it their business to work in China. China blocks them and they launch an update with in a few days unblocked themselves. I’m no longer in China but still use them to support their good work.
Also, it seems the IT guy knows you’re using a VPN because it’s linking to another country. Just use a VPN node in the same country and see if they still notice.
What I would love to know is could you connect to a company VPN via your own VPN (like NordVPN) to hide the fact that you’re working from another country?
I’m not sure I fully understand the question but I think you want to use VPN to appear at home while abroad? Since VPN is out you can use remote desktop. Best way would be a virtual desktop in AWS or Azure in your home country.
You rdp to there and have a local IP. Or leave your work laptop at home and set up TeamViewer or such to get in. Trouble is if it crashes you need someone to hit the power button for you.
If you work at a company that is so highly focused on detecting VPNs, then you will simply not be able to be a DN unless _maybe_ you are technically capable of setting up your own VPN and doing some other obfuscationary activities.
To be fair to your company though, employees with remote access are inherently risky. And those who travel abroad are even more risky. I don’t know the industry or company you are in, but it may be very reasonable for the company to be serious and cautious about this.
You may have to set aside your DN goals for now or change companies.
That’s the idiotic thing I did. It was after work hours and I changed configuration to France/USA. Forgot to turn off wifi connection on work laptop whilst I working on my personal laptop.
Tbh it shouldn’t be his concern if I am doing my router whatever. One can argue that others can be using vpn in my home, do i disable it for others then?
You could also run a VPN on your home network and VPN to home. Some routers have this or you could do it on a Raspberry Pi. No Nord IP address, just your home address.
