Hey Y’all, Figured I Would Share What I Learned From The Trustee Today

None of the Redbox units are abandoned as of right now and without explicit permission from the trustee or the court they cannot be removed. Do with this what you will but the court proceedings have not concluded and a decision in the fate of these kiosks is still to be decided. There are stores like CVS and Kroger who got permission to remove theirs month ago.

Edit for clarity: This does not mean stores like Walmart have not gotten permission. This does not mean that any units that have been removed already were not done so in a legit manner. All this means is that as of right now the court has not released some of the machines to the stores to remove. I am sure there are stores who have gotten permission.

I’m not trying to tell y’all what you can and can’t do. If you want to go take a machine I literally do not care. I’m just sharing the information so y’all can make an informed decision. I’d feel terrible if I didn’t share this and someone did get in trouble.

For those wanting a machine I am beginning the process of trying to acquire them to be repurposed and given to community facing organizations that would benefit from their use. After we have given those out we plan to give the remainder to those who would like them. I will post and email for the application once we are further in the process.

So the Walmart managers that literally PAID people here to take their kiosks are going to be charged with theft? Not gonna happen.

I didn’t rob it. I bought all the movies.
It’s not my fault it never charged me. If it worked right it should of not given me the movies I intended on “buying”

Meanwhile the last 100 posts are of people robbing the machines

DG, Sheetz, 7-11 and others have permission from the Trustee.

What about the retailers that are apparently giving them away? Is that not actually happening?

Proof of this statement?? I haven’t seen any updates.

The lack of evidence in this post makes this OP worthless information of “facts”

I noticed one was missing from the cvs near me last week. I assumed it was the company. That’s wild to me that people are just taking them.

Awesome share. I don’t get why the algorithm pushed this subreddit on me, but I’ve been fascinated by it all for the last few weeks.

Please provide the official “trustee” document that states this.

I’m going to have a good laugh at all the thieves who get caught up.

The kiosk ships have sailed.

So basically those doing fraudulent transactions to empty the machines are committing a crime

I would like to have one. I’m thinking of “acquiring” one soon… by means but i would rather buy one

afaik people have asked store managers if they can have them and were told yes. I have called every store in my area that has a kiosk (Family Dollar, DG, Walmart, Kroger, Walgreens) and have either been told no or have been getting the run around.

Both of the Walgreens I called said they have orders from Corporate to shut off the machines and leave them (contrary to what someone else said, that they emailed Corporate and were told it was up to the stores)

DG said they already have a contract to get them removed.

The Kroger in my area just said no and another in a neighboring county said it was already removed (I think they said it was through a contract, I didnt really hear what he said). I called Kroger Corporate and they just created a case, so waiting to heard back, if ever.

Walmart store I called in my area said “no” (planning to go in and speak with the manager) and the other in another county said it was going to “used assets”?? and said to call Corporate about it. which i did and they said you can take it, you just ask the store manager…

Family Dollar relayed my message to the District Manager who doesn’t know that redbox is gone, so I asked to have them call me so I can talk to her and maybe explain the situation.

I even called CVS in another county and they said the manager was on vacation for 3 weeks but they mentioned something about redbox to someone else bla bla call back tomorrow and talk to them. also contacted Corporate and got a case opened.

tl;dr I have tried, it has not been very easy, and I think people may be misrepresenting themselves as being contracted/sent to remove it. I know I have seen some people mention providing their own work orders and stuff as well.

I also NEED one in my garage in southern AZ

I’d really like one! Interested in turning one into a FreeBlockbuster for my community.

No that’s not what I am saying at all. I’m stating that unless they were given permission from the court they cannot remove them. Walmart might have gotten permission. I am not involved in that aspect
