Help Setting Up VPN with XBox360

I’m admittedly pretty clueless about networking and IP addresses and the like, but I’m tech savvy otherwise (for instance, not afraid of the command line).

I have a VPN (privateinternetaccess.com) which I would like to use to view content on my xbox 360. I am using a spare Windows 8 box to run Virtual Router (http://virtualrouter.codeplex.com/) to create a virtual wifi spot. (The PC is connected to wi-fi, and then essentially rebroadcasts it, at least to my understanding). I have no problem connecting to this new wifi host with other devices, but I can not get the xbox to connect. When I test the connection it eventually fails and gives me the standard unplug your modem or connect with a static IP address advice.

Problem number two is that the devices that I can connect to the virtual router are not going through the VPN.

Long story short, how can I route my internet traffic through the VPN before being broadcast through virtual router, and what is causing the xbox 360 to not connect to the hot spot?

Thanks so much for any tips.

are you intending to play multiplayer games like this??

I was going to buy a dd-rt router, but I tried Connectify Hotspot instead. Works like a charm with my VPN here in Canada. I use it on xbox 1, roku stick, Amazon Kindle Fire and Samsung Smart tv. Now I get espn, hbogo and all the US content I want and need. Turns on and off via laptop.

Our intention is actually solely to watch sports (in the quasi-legal realm). We just want to get around black out restrictions.

easiest way is to connect your xbox directly to your pc/laptop with cat5 then bridge your adapters.

That may be what we end up trying. Right now we inherited an Airport Express modem, which only has one ethernet port (which is used for the router). If there’s a way around buying a new modem that would be nice…
