I want to get VPN for streaming purposes, but I am worried that I may forget that I’m on VPN and accidentally go on Seller Central. Amazon’s is pretty strict about this. If I accidentally log on while on VPN, will I get into trouble?
Edit: Thank you everyone for sharing your experiences. They are most illuminating. Here’s an official reply from Amazon support for all those who are concerned about using VPNs:
Hello from Amazon Selling Partner Support,
I understand your concern wherein you want to use VPN to access your Seller Account.
Please be informed that as per your query, it might be possible seller performance team put your seller account under review.
Accessing Seller Central from different locations, networks (LAN, WAN, WLAN), or changes to your IP address. Having multiple users using the same login credentials may impact all of these, so ensure that each person accessing your account has their own login credentials."
If anyone has any additional questions, I could ask Support for you and reply here for everyone’s learning.
Yeah fine with nord VPN, never an issue
It’s a needless risk. Just don’t do it.
I have used VPN everywhere in the world … never an issue as long as u use the same Laptop you use normally to access your account
I use VPN all the time and never had any issue.
I don’t think anyone will be able to give you a definitive answer. I’ve heard that a VPN with a shared ip (most vpn’s) are not good since the ip you’re randomly assigned at any given point could have been used by someone who was suspended by Amazon in the past which would then tie your accounts together and could get you in trouble. But then again that could also be said for using your seller account on wifi in a hotel or Starbucks. Personally I would not use a shared ip VPN it seems like unnecessary risk.
I’ve used a VPN with a dedicated and fresh ip address in the past and had no issues. A dedicated one insures that you’re the only one using. And a fresh one means no one has used it before you.
Playing with fire. I’m in Canada and have a US phone. When I’m on my phone using data my IP is located in Texas. When I’ve accidentally logged in using data I’ve had my account locked and had to jump through hoops, change my password, re-enter my credit card and bank info because Amazon deleted it. I try to be very careful now to only login on wifi on my phone.
Although using the app on data is fine, it’s just when I login to the website that they lock my account.
If it’s a shared IP, yes. If you have a dedicated IP, no.
Changing IP is not as big of a deal as changing computers … think of amazon conferences where hundreds of sellers on the same WiFi using their own laptops …
This is my understanding as well.
Attribution when there is a problem is usually hard, because there are so many potential points of failure. You may never know if your IP was why your account was shut down. No reason to take the risk when you can build a solution for under $500.
I didn’t know about this. Is IP Vanish considered a dedicated IP?
I see. Could you elaborate on that please? I am using NordVPN.
I have never had any issues logging in using IPVanish.
I use ExpressVPN all day everyday and have never had an issue
I can speak to NordVPN. They offer a dedicated IP but the process is a bit convoluted, so you’d know if you have one. You have to make a second account, use a particular coupon code to purchase a second VPN service, then email them to get assigned a dedicated IP and associate it with your primary account.
Here was my setup when I was managing ~10 accounts for larger brands that were not associated with each other (and I had no intention of ever screwing up their business): Dedicated PC, mini router and IP for each brand. The mini router would have the dedicate IP and be set to not allow an internet connection without VPN. Then I would dial in to each PC to access their Amazon store.
I did have one client, which was a big, multi-generational beloved brand, which screwed up on IPs/multiple accounts (it was unclear what the issue was, because of a revolving door with management), but I can tell you, there is no forgiveness with Amazon, no one will listen to you, and those specialized law firms can do nothing for you. So don’t ever make a mistake. Have fun.
Express VPN as well never had an issue.
Could you elaborate on what mini router would be for and why one for each device? My guess is because you wanted each device to come from a different initial IP address provided by the mini router before assigning a VPN for further protection but I might be wrong.
Could I have two accounts connected under the same router with both account being under separate dedicated PC and their own VPN(With static IP address)?
Which mini routers do you recommend?
