Has anyone else come across full lobbies of Chinese boosters?

This is a bit odd but I think I just cracked the case.

For the past 2 days, me and my party (all OCE) have been continuously getting queued against Chinese 6 stacks (high ping, Chinese characters in the name). Generally, we would find a match against a 6man, get into the game and they would all leave either before the match starts or around 5 seconds in.

I noticed they were saying things like “909?” in chat and all had 909 in their clan tags. Eventually we figured out that we were being put into these lobbies because my mate had his VPN on but today, he saw the boosting in action.

I’m not entirely sure if they’re boosting tbh, just the conclusion I made from this small clip my friend sent, figured the subreddit might be interested. Also curious to see if anyone else has seen this happening.

In the Chinese COD sub there’s a 909 clan saying did you see OCE CLAN boosting using a VPN to get easier lobbies.

You matched with them because they use the same VPN, probably sbmmoff or some other overly sold generic vpn with every one being thrown in the same lobbies.

Probably boosting to get everything and then turn around and sell the account. I’m more curious about the people who want to buy these accounts.

Just saw it now OCE, they definitely wait for servers to go empty past midnight. After 12am its all the lobbies I get. All saying the same thing too “909?”

We did actually figure out that the reason we were getting matched with them was because my mate had his vpn on (even though it was connected to an australian vpn server) so that checks out

yes what we don’t realize is that there are companies run by people who just do this all day long. remember the world of warcraft gold farmers? right now you can buy Apex Legends accounts with everything unlocked. there’s money to be made and entrepreneurs there to take it all in
