Getting "Unknown Session" when both computers have latest version

Unsure what is going on at this moment. Had been able to use TV for other sessions in the past.

I get “unknown session” as soon as I enter the partner ID of the computer I want to connect to. Both have the latest version of TV as of today. Neither are connected to a VPN, and no settings have been played with. Neither computer has an account and are using the free version for home use. Both computers are Windows 10 OS. Unsure if the other computer is 32 bit or 64 bit (does this matter?) I have not gotten any warnings that I have used TV too much either.

Old version worked for me as well… Why do new version so software always fail miserably. It seems to me that reverse compatibility used to be a thing.

I found the issue to be related to logging in. On the new UI it didn’t tell me this error, but when i switched to classic UI, it said all outbound connections need to be logged in. I logged in to my account and everything worked.

What worked for me:

27 May 2024 - Using version 15.53.7 on both computers. Full version on mine, QuickSupport on guest.

  1. Get the latest version for both computers. Always have the latest version for both computers.
  2. If you don’t have a teamviewer login ID/PW, create one. -OR- login with your ID/PW
  3. Login using the newly created ID/PW
  4. From the Home screen, click the Remote Support button (right-face arrow over left-face arrow icon)
  5. Click the “Connect here” link under Prefer the classic TeamViewer ID and password?
  6. Enter supplied Partner ID from guest, then their passcode.
  7. Resume being a productive member of society and do your part to increase our GDP.

Sincerely yours,

Some IT guy on the internet. YMMV.

same

Please post a fix, OP, if you find one

goto settings
select “Common” (left)
under “Network settings” (right) > set ‘Incomming LAN-connections’ to ‘accept

i had the same problem and i tried all the solutions suggested on the internet but only one worked for me ==> switch to classic interface

it’s simple as that i don’t know how but it worked perfectly.

For me, switching to old interface in the right top corner worked.

Fixed this by going back to Classic view on both machines.

You need to enter the ID in the search bar at the top

Switch to classic view, just worked for me along with everyone else here it seems . Can’t explain why but it does XD

My solution was along these lines. Instead of using the portable version to support someone, I installed new TV on my computer and then was able to log in. Once logged in I created a session and shared the session link with them and was able to connect.

The same here. The new UI didn’t get mt any clue, but the older version instructed me to create an account and I was able to connect to the remote device

Just to follow up - this is what it was. The new UI doesn’t alert you that you need an account to connect. Switching to the old UI, you’ll see the pop requesting you login/create an account once you try to connect to a session. Thanks!

session code expired teamviewer solution

Thank you! This worked for me and I was surprised to see you just posted 13h ago!

I have not found a solution yet, but I plan to edit the post once I do.

Haven’t tried this yet, but next time I use TV then I will see if it fixes it. I have been using AnyDesk for the time being.
