Using Firestick again after a couple years of not using it. PIA used to work fine but I removed and reinstalled. Now it launches super zoomed in and I can’t control anything for the app. I need to be able to log in! Been looking around and haven’t seen anyone talk about this.
Anyone have any ideas? I know how to download the .apk it just doesn’t launch right.
Edit: FWIW it is not zoomed in because of the Firestick zoom feature. It’s fully zoomed out with that.
Same. Doesn’t launch right. I thought it was hanging after I ran it. I am not presented with a login screen, just a very large PIA green man splash screen. I got the file from the PIA site. Subsequently I went to Amazon.com to “purchase” the file for free. Amazon.com found the two firesticks on the premises and warned me that the PIA app is NOT compatible with them. They are Fire TV Stick Basic Edition. I read that these came after the 2nd edition but I am now doubting that.

I have two TVs that I use PIA with. One TV wasn’t connecting properly (apparently the workaround for that was using the Wireguard protocol in the Settings instead of the default OpenVPN), so I decided to upgrade the version. Big mistake…getting the same zoomed in image. So there’s an incompatibility issue between the older version I was using and v3.17 (the current one available as of Jan 2023).
My other TV still has v3.9.1 and works no problem after switching to the Wireguard protocol. It’s a Toshiba FireTV while the other TV is a 2011 Sony running a 2nd gen Firestick.
Now my plan is to go back to PIA CS to ask for the 3.9.1 apk . I checked my Downloader app in my other TV to see if I had saved it, and no luck. Alternatively, I could find a “trustworthy” apk mirror site.
I don’t want to cancel my sub but apparently I’m eligible to get a refund still. I’ve been an annual sub for years, but just switched to the 3 year sub. I’m too lazy to explore other VPN options.
I’ll post an update on my success.

Yeah, I canceled my sub to PIA. I trialed SurfShark and used that for a week. I might continue with that again, sign up in a couple of days. No regrets cancelling PIA…there are better options out there.

Nah, no success. I ended up cancelling PIA and have been with SurfShark since.
