i personally used proton years ago and it was slow, people also claim their servers get flagged quickly and some platforms ban them
even nord wasnt up to express speed, altho i dont see many talk about speed diffs
maybe cuz downloads arent common use

Nortvpn, i use it for games too, but if someone got an alternative for games, i don’t mind hearing it.
I use proton VPN with next DNS , I suggest you give proton VPN another go since its been improved a lot in speed and reliability. Also the only VPN that I know that still have port forwarding since many other VPN dropped support for it like mullvad VPN.

several reasons
like at least a few times a year i have to access sites for transactions that wouldnt allow me unless i use a local ip
and then streaming and downloads is the majority of my use
and honestly at this point, cuz im so used to it, it just makes me feel safe, generally, maybe its a placebo, idk

Streaming yes not sure about downloading as I don’t download a lot, but downloading was never an issue as well. I mainly got a vpn to protect my privacy as I am very involved in crypto and can’t risk getting hacked or traced
