Headline sums it up. I’d more easily convince my friends to join in on custom workshop games if a simple Bakkes plug-in was all that was required instead of a VPN download. Thanks!
No, you don’t need a VPN. FYI, you never really needed a VPN for other methods, just the host needed to forward ports so your router knew what device to send incoming connections on that port to.
Appreciate the clarification. What I’ve gathered is that this plugin will make it more accessible to create workshop lobbies with friends through Bakkes instead of using Hamachi
It does, but it’s done by renting or running a server they own that’s running instances of a RL in a kind of headless mode and creating lobbies for everyone to join, all to get around having to port forward or VPN. This costs them money, and is a bit limiting in some ways. It’s still a great plugin for what’s probably 99% of the use case for Rocket Plugin. I don’t know if they have a donation link setup for it, but if/when they do, if you find it useful, I recommend considering supporting them.
It should definitely satisfy my use cases, and with the value I’ve gotten out of Bakkes and the plugins, I’m more than happy to chip in
FYI Bakkes has a patreon https://www.patreon.com/bakkesmod and a creator code BakkesMod. Patrons get a special channel in the Discord that is still unlocked and gets your name added in the plugin’s F2 menu :).
