Do Not Get Windscribe If You Have a Smart TV

I installed Windscribe on my desktop, which communicates wirelessly with my router. I did not install Windscribe on my smart TV (one-year old Sony). Now, my smart TV can’t access Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.

I contacted the help desk and they told me to do a variety of things including “Allow LAN traffic when firewall is on” and manually switching off the firewall. Nothing worked consistently.

I now have to turn off Windscribe, unplug my TV, and re-plug it in to get it to access Netflix.

If you don’t have a smart TV, you’ll be fine. Otherwise, do not get Windscribe.

Yeah I’m not buying this. We have multiple smart tvs in our house all working fine alongside multiple laptops, desktops, tablets and phones running Windscribe and exactly zero issues.

Smart TV’s do not interact with other wireless devices on the network - at least in our house.

Lol wtf are you talking about, that makes no sense. A VPN on your PC can’t have an impact on your TV. You clearly have an issue that you don’t comprehend.

Everyone has a smart tv. Raise your hand if this has also happened to you.

Are you sure it′s not a seperate networking issue (maybe the smart TV and your pc somehow got the same DHCP address)?

Windscribe shouldn’t impact other devices on the network at all. (Unless you’re connecting through your pc via a hotspot on it or something).

Are you sharing the internet connection on your desktop to your TV via ethernet?

unplug TV? that sounds like you have it connected to PC:) otherwise, the scenario doesn’t make much sense.

I actually use the Windscribe app on my smart TV through the Google play store with absolutely no issues

It seems like your Smart TV has finally given up.

You need a residential IP from them tbh

They are trying to bypass the Netflix restriction and connect to a network at a different home. Free Netflix.
