Dedicated IP (2 of them) were garbage

I signed up for Surfshark, and since I use it mainly for streaming, decided to purchase a dedicated IP. Big mistake. MLB.TV barely ran. Peacock gave errors, ESPN+ didn’t work most of the time. With each problem, Surfshark blamed my DNS. Didn’t matter that it was on PC app, iOS app, tvOS app, or any device connected to router; they insisted it was DNS (it wasn’t). One day, I got a message that MAX saw the VPN. Surfshark told me that I had to be in the country where I signed up. I created the account in the USA and was there. Not the problem. Back to DNS.

I bought another IP with another email and tried out MAX. It said I am in a territory MAX doesn’t cover. Again, I was in the USA. Surfshark told me to reset all network settings in iOS. Yeah, cause deleting all of my WiFi passwords will fix my PC and router.

It’s not me, Surfshark, it’s you. I’m onto another VPN service that can’t match the speed but exceeds the customer service and compatibility by leaps and bounds. Oh, and no need for weird DNS or erasing passwords to get another service to work, either. You lose, Surfshark!

Hey there, sorry to hear about your negative experience with Surfshark and our Dedicated IP.

You should be able to use all websites and streaming services when using a VPN, provided you are not violating the terms of the particular website or streaming service. If you follow the service provider’s or website’s terms but still cannot reach them when using Surfshark, we would love to look further into this issue and see what can be done to help, perhaps you could reach out at [email protected]?

I find it works great with my IPTV… set it to whatever country I want to view from say Optus sports in Australia for example…boom…works without a hitch

But you’re talking about legitimate services here aren’t you?

I’m having the same experience with my dedicated IP, I’m guessing the IP’s that we have have been flagged and are now being detected as vpns. I spoke to customer service which they also suggested that I try changing the dns address but that did not work. I have my dedicated IP setup on my openwrt router wireguard protocol and it was working for the last couple of months but as of this week MAX is telling me that I’m using a vpn. It’s also not working via the SurfShark app installed on my iPhone, they suggested that I switch protocols but I’m still being detected as using a vpn. I know the issue is on SurfShark’s end but they won’t acknowledge it, I requested a new IP address but was told that the current one is tied to my account. Ironically using the regular servers does work when watching MAX but I’m want to avoid getting all those captcha’s when visiting websites. I don’t want to cancel my service because to me SurfShark is the best vpn out there today.

Option suggested would be to reset Wireguard key pairs for the IP and see if it works.

My dedicated IP is now working again with MAX

You already claimed you looked at it and left the blame on me. Shame on you!

Mine too. Still no ESPN+ for me though. That’s a deal breaker.

Maybe you should think about other methods of obtaining what you want to view .

Didn’t work for me either but thats what support had suggested. Looking at my key pair it doesn’t change for dedicated IP’s so we’re stuck with an IP thats not working with MAX.

Yeah, on Surfshark you don’t get what you pay for, and that’s your problem. Fortunately there are other providers who actually care about their customers.
