Sorry for the noob question, I am new to NordVPN. I have installed NordVPN on both my Apple TV and Google TV devices, and connected to the UK server. I am actually located in the US. On Apple it can’t find BBC iPlayer, and on Google it tells me it isn’t available in my country. Netflix looks the same regardless of country/server I choose. I am unable to see any evidence that NordVPN is changing my location.
I haven’t been able to figure out what I’m doing wrong. Any tips?
Note; I am not on a double VPN. I am on a home network using fiber internet connection.
Yes, as mentioned, you’d have to change your Apple ID/Google account’s region in order to download those apps. Nevertheless, on Android, you may download the BBC iPlayer apk from third-party websites however, that would not be the safest path to take as you never know if the apk is legit or a virus, but there are some trustworthy sources out there.

Both your apple and Google accounts are grounded to your home country. You could sign up for a new google account whilst connected to the UK server. That’ll give you a UK based “address” as such, and UK apps will become available to you as it looks like you’re located in the UK.
I did this for various apps which aren’t available to myself in the UK, but are available elsewhere.

For any other noob like me, a few more details;
- Simply restarting is not enough
- You can’t create a new gmail without a phone number for verification, UNLESS you add it to your phone. I turned my phone on airplane mode, then turned wifi back on, connected to VPN UK server, created the new gmail
- Then added the new account to Google TV.
- Restarted Google TV and changed to the new UK gmail, amd made sure NordVPN was connected to UK
- I was then able to download BBC iPlayer, and I just signed in with my previously registered account.

On android tv. Reboot tv, set vpn to UK and than try BBC
