Can't connect to Singapore and Japan?

Anyone else having this problem? These are the main servers I need and they all say under maintenance…

Ps what servers are good for China? Never found HK to work well…

Are you located in Russia, Iran or China? If so, this is expected unfortunately.

China. So are there any servers that work well?

There is no guarantee at the moment, sorry. We are advising users to turn off any thirdparty antivirus, and use different ports and protocols to test locations.

You can also install older versions of the desktop app, this has helped some users: https://windscribe.com/changelog

So are all paid servers like this? Oddly I can sometimes get onto the free servers

You can download the OpenVPN or WireGuard configurations from their website (at the bottom of the download page) and add them as custom configurations in the app (or another VPN app). Most of the servers “under maintenance” will work this way. Just for some reason they decided we can’t use them in the app.

You can attempt what DuduLLe360 has suggested. Unfortunately there is no prediction we can make for what servers are available since China changes it’s restrictions all the time and each time different servers become available/unavailable.
We are working on introducing new solutions but there is no definite ETA currently.

I can’t figure that out… would anyone walk me through that like a child ??

  1. Connect to any VPN as usual
  2. Go to windscribe’s website, login, then go to the download section (click download at the top)
  3. Around the bottom of the page you will see “Config generators” with 3 different buttons under it. Select either OpenVPN or WireGuard (I’d recommend downloading both to test which ones work best for you)
    For OpenVPN:
Select location, protocol (TCP), port (pick one of the highest, do not select 443 as 443 usually doesn’t work), and version (latest) then download. Under that there is step 2 for credentials, get the credentials as those are not the same as the account credentials.
    For WireGuard:
Select location, port (443 works best for me), key pair (generate a new one for the first download then you can reuse the same later) then download.
  4. Open the windscribe app, where you can select the location there are multiple sections, all location, favorites,… the last section is custom configs, select that and at the bottom there will be “Add Custom Config”, click that button and select one of the files you just downloaded.
After you have added those files you can try to connect. For OpenVPN you will need the username and password you got on the website (not the account credentials)
You need to download configurations for every location you want to connect to, one by one.
