Can someone recommend a better PIA configuration?

I use PIA everyday, mostly when I am on public WiFi. In the last few weeks I have noticed that I cannot get a PIA connection. And the number of locations where PIA does not work keeps increasing. So I tried a free Windscribe account and it works using IKEv2 protocol. Then I tried my free ProtonVPN with their Stealth protocol with no issues either.

I am not here to bash PIA, I want to use my paid account. Are there any recommend configurations to try. I was on Wireguard, then tried OpenVPN with both TCP and UDP with no success. Is there anything else I can try?

did you try shadowsocks with openvpn? that can often help get through strict firewalls

Have you tried the DNS choices?

If they’re using Cisco WAP’s PIA is likely blocked by default with the regular filters. PIA on other vendors seem to work fine but Cisco is always blocked it seems.

Sounds like something’s not working right, have you tried clearing cache&data or reintalling the app?

New to PIA. What’s shadowsocks with openVPN? Is that part of PIA configuration?

I will try that tomorrow and report back.

I can’t find the setting in the Android app. I see it in the desktop app. Is Shadowsocks possible with Android?

I usually use PIA DNS, but I did try other custom DNSs, no luck.

I will and report back. Thanks.

I assume local port remains auto and remote port 53?

I tried port 53 today, no luck. I guess I am out of luck until PIA supports additional protocols.

I don’t know what router is being used. I do know my ability to use my IPTV app without VPN started at the same time. I will see if I can identify the router next time.

The router appears as Fortinet Inc

Yes I have. I actually clear that daily.

Yes, it disguises the fact you’re using a vpn. Choose openvpn under protocols and go to multihop in settings

Ah sorry, I’m a desktop dev
