Bitdefender Free doesn't play nicely with Windscribe VPN

This has been an issue any time I used BDF Free Antivirus. The connection seems laggy, and there will be reoccuring certificate errors. It keeps me from using Bitdefender.

Anyone familiar with this issue?

On a glance, it’s a free VPN. They are notorious for being riddled with ads or malware or they spy on you. Please choose a reputable free alternative

I’d suggest uninstalling and reinstalling Windscribe VPN. In the past, I’ve seen the app display warnings, not specific to Bitdefender but in relation to conflicts with other software.

You can disable certificate error warnings. Menu, Advanced options (cog icon), switch off ignore SSL certificate errors, but that won’t alter speed. A fresh installation is worth trying. I always use the WireGuard protocol, which Windscribe normally uses as its default, but you can set the protocol manually.

Would do no harm contacting Windscribe support, you could also ask on the Windscribe Reddit to check for similar experiences.

What are you talking about?

Windscribe is a reputable VPN, far more reputable than products such as Cyberghost, NordVPN, TunnelBear, Surfshark, ExpressVPN to name a few.

Bitdefender is also a notoriously buggy piece of software and an average AV solution, its detection rates are good but everything else is bad, consumes stupid amounts of system resources, spams your system with 15+ windows processes, consumes anywhere from 500mb-1.5gb of system memory, basic UI, Buggy AI, seems to play poorly with other software

All I am saying is free VPNs are not free for a reason. Are we saying free VPNs exist? Like no strings attached ones.

That is my point.

Windscribe has a limited free version, they also have a paid version, I would agree that a purely free vpn defeats the purpose of a vpn because you are the end product, Windscribes free version acts more as a test before you buy type product

Gotcha. Thanks for the info.
