Any of you subscribe to a VPN service?

If yes, why?
Should I subscribe myself to one?

Mudfish. To reduce latency when playing MMOs like FFXIV. Cheap too. Tgey charge by data. 5 usd can last for 6 months.

Skip region locks why not?

I use ProtonVPN, it’s free version works well enough for my needs and it’s recommended by PrivacyTools

I have a multi-year sub to NordVPN, mostly so I can continue my Disney+ watching.

There’s also some weird thing going on with Globe where sometimes I can’t sync my iTunes account unless it goes to Singapore, so I connect to my VPN.

Also for those times when I need a somewhat stable connection and DNS lookups keep messing up.

Imagine paying for a VPN subscription in 2022.

i have surfshark premium, got it for 3k php 2 years i think. unli devices is the thing that hooked me

Speedify, for bonding multiple ISPs into a single connection.

fastestvpn, 20$ lifetime subs. Mainly used for live streaming.

I only use VPN for dark web stuff and when I want to play on other servers when you cannot select em.

So far almost all vpns I’ve used are free and they do work, I have an IP indicator on Rainmeter and it do change it

VPN really does increase speed? I thought they decrease the speed of the internet?

Is this similar to exitlag bro? I’ve been using exitlag for a WoW private server and its quite pricy for the game. Im mainly interested for the Pay Per Traffic one

Is mudfish simple to use? I checked it out for ff14 once and the UI and how to actually activate it confused me

what are your needs?

care to elaborate please?

Why did you decide to get it?

Why would you want to do that?

How do you do that??

I think you’re confusing speed for latency. Latency is how fast your computer can send and receive data from another computer, say an online game server. So if for example you attack something ingame, your computer will send that info to the game server. There the server will determine if you scored a hit and then compute the damage. The server will then send that data back to you, and you will either see a hit or miss on your screen.

Now the issue here is say, with PLDT, the data will have to go through several routes before they can get to the game server. The data might have to pass through maybe 5 to 10 points before they reach the destination, and then another 5 to 10 points on the way back. This is not always efficient. On average, my ping is 150 ms using PLDT Fibr to play FFXIV. VPNs help by helping you find more efficient routes to and from the game server so instead of having to go through 5 to 10 points, you only pass through 3 to 5 points. By comparison, my ping is 50 to 70 ms when using mudfish. So its not really about increasing or decreasing internet speed but finding shorter routes.

VPN might affect speed if say you use it to watch Netflix USA. Netflix USA is farther from the Philippines that Netflix Asia so you should expect some longer load times.

Pareho ata. Iyung kalaro ko sa India exitlag ang gamit dati. Lumipat din siya sa mudfish.
