Firebox SSL Watchguard client

Not true. TLS/SSL is equally secure and uses ports that are almost always available from anywhere.

IPSec is defacto for point-to-point. TLS/SSL is more appropriate for mobile clients.

Are you saying the script is part of Windows?

Hey, where’s the script please?

It’s my wife’s setup. The office is very small, about 20 people. The contract IT guy takes things very personal, and can get a bit hostile. Considering it’s my wife, and not me I don’t want to ruffle any feathers.

Say no more. Never rock that boat. Question though, what are you trying to connect back to there then? And how many users are you talking about?

I’m only dealing with a single client.

My wife works out of the office most times, but also has a PC in our home office and she works from home fairly often. I thought I’d do something nice for her, and automate the login process on the PC. You know, turn it on, it logs into Windows, connects the vpn connect, maps drives and starts email client.

I believe the vpn is a Firebox device.

Ah, makes sense. I think the easiest solution here will be to have the watchguard app set in your start up folder, so it launches on login. Then have the credentials saved, so she simply has to click connect to get going. As covered by others, the alternatives are trying to terminate a VPN directly to your windows pc (needs your it support to do that) or go further and create a tunnel to your router (pretty faffy, costly if you don’t have a decent router that supports it already and blatantly overkill so I would swerve that too).

Only other final thought is if openvpn offers a windows client, and then has that auto connect feature able to be set on launch… Then you could potentially use that here to help? I use openvpn on my mobile to vpn onto our network via the watchguard so I know it’s possible and that you don’t need the official client to connect necessarily.

I’ll have a dig around as this has got me interested in helping
