YouTube premium finally cancelled

I was using YouTube premium India through UK revolut and it’s been cancelled with 2 days notice without ability to renew the subscription. Now when I use a VPN Indian server it shows USD prices.

I actually have my grandfather’s address in India and can use an Indian debit card if needed but unable to VPN to access Indian prices…anyone have a good solution?

It got canceled because they have raised the prices in India, if they don’t receive a confirmation that you agree to the new price, they are going ahead and cancelling the sub.

If you are using iPhone, you can try making new apple ID with your email that connected to your youtube premium if you haven’t done that.

You do not need VPN to do this.

What I did is make an entirely new apple ID account with newly made email (i used gmail) and then sign up new apple ID.

Log in your new apple ID to your iPhone that has your youtube app.

Then go your app store settings then change your country to INDIA.

Make sure your youtube account that you want to be on premium is still logged in your youtube app.

And then on the youtube app, you buy or renew the premium… it should show the prices in RUPEE if you did it right and pay it using your indian debit card.

Hope this works for you.

YouTube now is checking your location, google will not let you pay or renew the Indian subscription if they detect you are in a different country.

Do you have to use a vpn every time you use YouTube

No VPN needed:

  1. Set up a new Apple ID and choose Turkey as the country. (The phone number doesn’t need to match the country.)
  2. Go to Settings > Apple ID > Media & Purchases and switch to your newly created Apple account.
  3. Buy an Apple gift card in Turkish lira (TRY) online. For example, a 1000 TRY card costs around $29. Reliable sites for this include Turgame, G2A, and others (I use Turgame).
  4. Use the new Apple account to redeem the gift card.
  5. Open the YouTube app while logged into your usual YouTube account. When you purchase YouTube Premium (or Premium Family), the payment will draw from the balance on the new Apple account, using the gift card funds.
  6. To ensure monthly payments for YouTube Premium are consistently deducted from the gift card balance, keep the new Apple ID linked to Media & Purchases in your device settings.

If you get an error while creating a new Apple ID, try doing so from https://music.apple.com/

Update. Made a turkey Apple ID and subscribed from the app, got a turkey iTunes gift card, loaded iTunes and can confirm it renewed this month using my gift balance. Think I paid $6 for a family a plan :joy:

Use a different browser or clear cookies . Start fresh and set your con location to India . If that also doesn’t work , use a new gmail to get Indian prices .

I’m still on the Russian Premium. Have been for years. Fully expected them to cancel it when Russia invaded Ukraine and Google started beefing with Putin, but so far so good

If they do cancel it I’ll just get Vanced. I’m not paying full price - sod that for a lark. There are still a tonne of ads with premium, they’re just baked into the videos and slightly less annoying

If you have an Indian debit then you can just log in and use that for payment, easy

I got the “youtube needs a xxx payment method” so now off to youtube revanced I go.

I had to change my location to Bulgaria, £7.50 a month instead of 2.50 but ah well it works

I have a Turkish card (partner is from there) but I cant get youtube to think Im in Turkey, VPN on dekstop I get the error

“We couldn’t verify your country.”

Any tips on getting it to think Im in Turkey?

I’m in the UK with an Indian subscription and mine has just renewed a few days ago at the new increased price. Perhaps now starting to roll out location checks so I’ll keep my fingers crossed that my days aren’t numbered.
