Will using a VPN increase my connection stability?

Hi everyone!

I live in Venezuela, and here the internet is super random: Sometimes I can watch Netflix at 1080p but Google doesn’t load, or I can download a torrent at my full connection speed but YouTube can’t load even at 240p with the torrent stoped. I work remotely with many clients from other countries, and internet stability is more important to me than internet speeds.

Does a VPN helps with this? I’ve had some experience using free VPN services, for example sometimes my bank’s website wouldn’t load, but with a free VPN it loads super quick. I’ve heard many good things about PIA, and with the new partnership with Linus Tech Tips I want to take advantage of the discounts, even buy a 2 years subscription if it can stabilize my connection.

I hope you can help me out.

EDIT: I pretend to use it on Arch Linux and Android, but I don’t see many tutorials to run it on Arch. Are there problems with the Linux integration?

It’s really hard to say whether using a VPN will help with stability without trying it. Your internet provider could be restricting traffic in any number of different ways - for example, if they’re heavily throttling UDP traffic, using a VPN on a TCP port could help considerably. However, if they’re also throttling VPN traffic, you might run into some issues.

We have a 7 day refund policy, so if PIA doesn’t work out for you we will gladly provide a full refund.

The PIA app runs on Arch, and you can also set it up using OpenVPN. We have tutorials on how to do this on the way!

Thanks! I’ll be investigating on how to configure it on Arch and I will definitely will give it a try! I did not knew about the 7 days return policy, so that will be pretty handy. Thank you for your response!

No problem! Feel free to reach out if you need any assistance getting everything configured
