The French to Esperanto lesson is still in beta, that’s why you have infinite lives. You won’t get that on many other languages.

Idk maybe it just slipped through devs hand or they just realised that the target courses audience are low on count to the point where ads wont take place among them or the course is just too hard for one heart only
If it’s unique to Esperanto course, I have to guess they made this exclusively for Esperanto course.

Could be to make the course more attractive to ppl. Maybe it doesn’t have as many users as duolingo would like.
I also had it when learning intermediate english from my native language which was a new course. Deleted the app this morning though since I dont see any point with it anymore.

Very interesting! English-to-Esperanto doesn’t have infinite hearts for me, but English-to-Klingon does. Klingon was listed as beta longer than most Incubator projects, and I assume there were never enough people finishing the course to get accurate feedback on it. I’ve always assumed that this is why Duolingo never deemed the course “complete” enough to enforce the heart system.
It’s the opposite for me. I’m in a classroom and up until a few days ago I had unlimited hearts and now I don’t.
You’ve signed in to Duolingo for schools as a teacher. It’s a pretty good method for free unlimited hearts.
My husband studies Russian and he also has the same option, but I don’t have for German
I had this when I beta tested “German - Italian”. Seems like they do it for beta versions of courses so that testers have more opportunity to actually test.
I am not sure where are you located, but I know in some countries that’s always the case. In Russia you get unlimited hearts always (however, some features are removed (story practice and friend streaks)).
I have it too but it is for me by all the courses I do.
Use a VPN connection with Russian IP - it gives you unlimited hearts and no ads
