Why did Norton access the Macbook Keychain during uninstallation?

Hi

I had some problems with Norton 360 on my Mac so I had to uninstall it and reinstall it again.

Durin the uninstall process I had to use the Remove all Norton programs for Mac using the RemoveNortonMacFiles tool .

During the uninstallation process it said in the Terminal that Norton access the Keychain.

Do anyone know why?

I hope Norton did not “steal” any information from the Keychain?

I tried to chat with the Norton support, but I can get the chat to function.

If no one can answer my question above, is there anyone who can do me a solid and actually ask the Norton chat support directly why Norton software had to access the Mac Keychain during the uninstallation process?

Norton’s tentacles reach far and wide, doesn’t surprise me

FWIW - I’ve ‘caught’ many apps installing poorly made certs in the cert store on Keychain so that they can connect to upstream TLS secured sites also using poorly made certs so that the connection doesn’t fail.

I’d put my money on Norton not using a cert derived from a known trusted source and just installing their own on people’s systems.

For a whole lot of other reasons, do not use Norton or any similar third party AVs. They sell a false sense of security while actually making your device more vulnerable by introducing lots of additional attack surface and tracking you themselves.

Probably stealing all your passwords, it is Norton and all.

Ok, so I shouldn’t be worried that Norton accessed the Keychain?
