Who actually pays for Brave VPN?

So Brave VPN is currently $9.99 / month, or $99.99 / year. That seems extremely overpriced for a VPN with servers available in only 13 countries, and with limited functionality.

On their website it says that it supports speeds up to 500 Mbps, but in the iOS app it says speeds up 100 Mbps, so already there I am confused.

But nonetheless, I cannot see why anyone would ever buy Brave VPN with their current pricing. I can currently get IVPN or Mullvad for $5 / month with many more servers to choose from, and with features like split tunneling, multihop etc.

In my opinion should Brave VPN not be priced for more than $5 / month. Do anyone here find it worth it, and am I overseeing something?

Absolutely not.

You can get a better service for a lot less.

I really don’t know wtf they are thinking with that price.

I used the free trial and it was decent. I forgot to cancel and they charged me but support was kind enough to offer me a refund. The price is too damn high I’d say. Would be a nice option for something like £1/week, £3/ month.

Yea, it is pricey. ProtonVPN has similar features at half the cost with more servers in 4x the countries, faster speeds and able to connect twice as many devices.

Brave VPN is running on Guardian’s servers and costs the same. I’m confused why it’s called Brave Firewall + VPN to begin with — maybe it does something in the browser that I’m not aware of.

Yup, Mullvad is the safest option out there, haven’t seen any service like that before and it’s also very cheap. Rare thing.

I think Brave just tries to capitalize on its loyal customer base.

I’m trialing out Proton VPN, and haven’t had any issues. A 1 year plan is currently $71.88 USD, or $119.76 USD for a 2 year plan. Proton VPN is based in Switzerland which have strict privacy laws and isn’t under the jurisdiction of any international surveillance alliances. It also has its own TOR entry nodes.

Brave vpn is way overpriced junk. Agreed.

Perhaps I see this different then others.

In my mind, Brave is ambitiously building out their infrastructure, crypto systems, and browser, VPN, etc. Thats is a crazy amount of work and requires talent. Talent does NOT work for free. I am happy to support this project as I feel it has the end users best interest at heart.

Consider this: How many other support subs have 10 mods ALL from the team and as diverse across product lines?

I cant think of a single one. Sure, Brave has issues, they also are getting addressed

Firefox VPN is a pretty good deal comparatively.

Runs on Mullvad, costs the same, and comes with some decent privacy tools like email aliasing.

SurfShark $90cad for 2 years, more servers, more security, no logs, and unlimited devices. Yeah I’ll take that instead.

As soon as I saw the price, I laughed. Brave pricing themselves out entirely.

Using the free protonVPN version is also enough for most users, don’t know why Brave tried to reinvent the wheel instead of doing partnership.

I was praising Brave at the start, now I just use it for YouTube. Switching back more and more often to Firefox and Thorium as I am starting to not believe in what Brave is becoming.

I wonder if they could just push more of their ads while you use their VPN to make it worth it.

It’s Mullvad now? Nobody likes NordVPN anymore?

Hi, what should i do when prime video identifies my brave vpn?

It is $14.99 in Australia, it annoys me they need a credit card for free trial

Way to overpriced. I am using ProtonVPN, it has all you need for 5$ month…

I would. Anyone got code?

Can brave browswer block youtube ads

Those who want to support brave

I’m not an IT professional or anything. Can someone explain to me why my browsing comes to a complete halt sometimes when my VPN is on? It’s very annoying, and I have to turn it off and then back on in order to access the pages I’m going to. I am currently using Google VPN, and I’ve tried SurfShark. They both do it. I was considering Brave VPN because the problem is annoying.
