As an Indonesian I just use a DNS hider called Intra from the app store to browse reddit
You probably don’t need a VPN service if you’re using your roaming data or eSim services like Airalo (they usually route your traffic through Singapore). Even if you’re using Indonesian WiFi enabling iCloud Private Relay (or the similar service on Android) should work. Reddit is only blocked by Indonesian carriers like Telcomcell on Apple or Google accounts set to Indonesia. Last year I bought a Samsung phone with an Indonesian sim card in Yogyakarta and I was shocked that half the websites I usually visit didn’t work, so no Reddit, no Pornhub, etc. So, I ended up gifting this phone to my mom.

intra dns is sufficient. just a toggle to activate and just turn off after use it

Make sure to select option 2 so you don’t need to download the app for it. Works as an adblocker too
You can use pretty much most VPNs or DNS service providers. I use free version of NextDNS and paid Windscribe. Honestly NextDNS is enough but I’m into privacy stuff.
You don’t need to use a VPN at all. Just change your phone DNS to cloudflare or others.
