Which 3rd-party WireGuard services have you tried (and works well) with Firewalla?
Proton works well, and I’ve also had Mullvad and Nord which also work well.
Using VPN Unlimited. Currently using WireGuard but have also used openVPN.
Voted for Mullvad, also tested IVPN successfully.
Proton and mullvad working great
Mullvad working great for me so far. Using two servers, one local for all traffic and one in Albania with a target list of YouTube domains to block in video ads.
Using PrivadoVPN… no issue using both OpenVPN and wireguard profiles
+1 Mullvad , paired with a custom routing rule and a custom target list to route specific domains through a different locale in order to bypass geographic restrictions
Wireguard running on a Raspberry Pi 3b to VPN and route traffic.
connect.raspberrypi.com and a Raspberry Pi5 to remote control that system from anywhere using a web browser.
SurfShark and Proton working well.
Using AirVpn for the port forwarding features (occasionally use it to get out from behind a CGNAT.)
How do you find the speed with VPNunltd? I switched to NORD and found them at least double the speed when the vpn was handled on the client device (shield pro).
Happy with Surfshark? I’m looking for a new provider that officially supports WireGuard configurations.
Speed is not that great, I do not believe VPNU uses physical servers.
I do plan to switch to a different service soon.
I was using it because SS will sell you a dedicated IP to remove captchas, and I needed a way to secure my devices when connecting to public Wi-Fi. I was traveling a lot for work at the time to remote areas with poor cell coverage. Now I don’t travel as much, and I use WireGuard back to my Firewalla instead of SS when I do. Firewalla provides me the added benefit of being able to access devices at my house remotely.
I was happy with SS, but I also didn’t really use it for some of the other things folks like to use VPN’s for. So I can’t really speak to it’s capability for torrenting, streaming from remote regions, etc.
