Lately I’ve been having some problems accessing certain websites like my bank’s (both on PC and smartphone) or, just here, on Reddit.
The solution is to temporarily disconnect the VPN to be able to access normally.
After a while I reconnect the VPN and everything works normally.
Is anyone else having similar problems?
Yes. I had an issue when trying to load DDG (DuckDuckGo browser) on my PC. It failed to launch. But as soon as I disconnected from the VPN, it worked. Several known sites that I use frequently didn’t load either. Such as lotterypost and TechPowerUp
This is becoming more and more common, I’m not sure what options vpn’s have to combat this.
Try using a custom DNS (Cloudfare’s 1.1.1.1 and their 1.0.0.1) and try it again to see if this fixes the issue. BTW read the proper documentation from both Cloudfare and Proton to make sure you input the custom DNS properly.
No issues here connected to UK servers via OpenVPN GUI TCP on Windows 11 online banking and all other sites behave normally.
I have been having issues on my phone which is on google fi. It won’t run Android Auto because I am on a VPN. some times I have to do a captcha when using search.
Yes, I have had this issue and still continue to experience this.
Sometimes the entire website won’t allow me at all.
Also,
I’ve been experiencing a massive amounts of banned IP’s notices these last few months.
I go to different websites, and I get told by the site that the IP has been banned. It has a notice in orange or sometimes grey with white text saying Access Denied, or Permission Denied and sometimes flat out say IP banned or blocked from the site and for me to contact my administrator.
Just wanted to let you guys know whats going on. You guys most likely know its happening. But just in case you don’t, just letting you know.
I forgot to mention, I have also been experiencing massive amounts of captchas.
Like a lot. To the point that its starting to get very annoying and frustrating.
Maybe this is websites trying to force people off VPN’s.
