VPN vs gaming vpn

Since gaming VPNs are also just VPNs, can one use them just for normal online stuff that is NOT gaming? I mean, I understand that Gaming VPNs may have something that normal VPNs don’t have because they don’t focus on solving certain problems. But, are there things that Gaming VPNs don’t have but are desirable for normal VPNs? Can I just use a gaming VPN, and modulo the gaming, it’s still just like my usual VPN, and I don’t have to get an additional VPN for normal usage?

Can you give me an examples of gaming vpn? From my understanding, it is mostly marketing terms. Any geounblocking vpn can do anything a gaming vpn can do. So just go use a reputable vpn or proxy service instead.

I would presume that a gaming focused VPN would use Wireguard and UDP for best performance. That may make it less desirable for other uses where location masking and file integrity are the focus.

As far as I’m aware, VPNs like ExitLag do absolutely nothing for your privacy or security.
Last I checked, ExitLag didn’t bother trying to hide any of your data whatsoever.
Outside of that, it’s unlikely to help for connection stability/speed outside of their specifically assigned games, but if you already own it, it can’t hurt trying I suppose.

Well, that’s the question. Do you know definitively, whether any of them have proper location masking?

As in ping? Are you trying to play in another location server or is it just trying to reduce latency?

Gaming vpns are really for a specific use case, take a look at this https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/s/L7owYspAo7 it probably will answer all your questions.
