My GPU is about to run out soon, and I want to try using the VPN method to save some cash if it still works. Has anyone used it successfully recently? If not, do you know any good gold deals running currently(USA). Thanks for the help!
Can confirm as of March 28th 2023 this still works. I have SurfShark and that worked perfectly fine, others have said UrbanVPN works too.
I bought three 12month XBL Gold codes from CD Keys. Buy the codes labeled (Turkey) WITHOUT USING VPN YET. It will not let you buy them when using the VPN (this was the only part that wasn’t clear to me at the time). They were ~$33 each.
Then activate VPN and log into your Microsoft account. The guide I used suggested using a link to the Turkish Microsoft website, so that’s what I did (not sure if that is actually necessary). The website was translated to english, and I was able to redeem all 3 codes. That is all you need the VPN for.
Logged on to my xbox and I bought 1 month of GPU which converted it all. I’m all good till 2026 for just about $115. Cant beat that.

- Buy 3 x 12 months Xbox Live Gold Turkey
- Buy 1 month xbox game pass ultimate Turkey
- convert the live gold to GPU.

they supposedly reintroduced the geolock again at the end of november along with deactivating buying gift codes in argentina & turkey, i think thats why there is uncertainty.

There’s no need to use the Turkish website for Microsoft.
After you’ve purchased the Xbox Live Gold vouchers using a VPN, you can close the VPN and proceed to the https://reedeem.microsoft.com site. That’s what I did and it worked.
I then went to the Xbox site and purchased the Game Pass Ultimate from there. For good measure, I also turned off recurring billing.
Yes, it still works. Last Game that I bought was cyberpunk for 14,00€ from eneba.
Redeem gold first then redeem GPU. Make sure you don’t have any active GPU.
If not sure you can try that steps with a few months first. Play it until expired. Then redeem the left gold months.
No warranty if doesn’t work. At least those worked for me.
